JOB DESCRIPTION

About the Campaign:

Join the fight to protect incumbent Supervisor Joel Engardio from recall in San Francisco’s most contested political fight of 2025. This campaign is mobilizing neighbors, building a people-powered ground game, and standing up for the future of our city.

Position Overview:

We’re hiring a Chinese Organizer to lead our outreach and organizing efforts in Chinese-speaking communities, with a particular focus on door-to-door engagement, volunteer recruitment, and turnout. This role is central to the campaign’s mission to engage all corners of the district and build a broad, multilingual coalition against the recall. The ideal candidate will be a strong relationship builder, a hard worker, and fluent in ** Mandarin or Cantonese**. While this role will focus on the Chinese community, you will also handle other organizing tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute culturally relevant field outreach and canvassing in Chinese-speaking communities

  • Recruit, train, and manage volunteers

  • Participate in general campaign canvassing and phone banking

  • Lead canvass shifts and voter engagement events

  • Translate campaign materials or coordinate with translation services as needed

  • Represent the campaign at community events, local gatherings, and staff the Supervisor as needed

  • Provide input on field strategy to ensure language and cultural inclusion

  • Support broader field team goals and collaborate with other organizers and staff

Qualifications:

  • Fluency in ** Mandarin or Cantonese** required (both preferred)

  • Political or campaign experience is ** preferred but not required** — this could be a great opportunity for someone looking to break into politics

  • Experience working in or with Chinese American communities in San Francisco is a plus

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build trust in multicultural communities

  • Commitment to progressive values and fighting anti-democratic recall efforts

  • Familiarity with voter contact tools like PDI or VAN is helpful, but not required

  • Ability to work irregular hours and many weekend events
