Job Description:

Join the Reginald Rushin Campaign team as a Campaign Outreach Intern for the highly competitive City of Atlanta District 11 race! This internship offers a unique opportunity to be part of a dynamic grassroots campaign working to bring positive change to Atlanta’s District 11.

Reginald Rushin is running to represent District 11 on the Atlanta City Council, focusing on community empowerment, equitable development, and responsive leadership. This is a very competitive race, and the campaign is mobilizing a strong team to reach voters effectively and build momentum.

As a Campaign Outreach Intern, you will be on the front lines of voter contact, helping to connect with residents across the district through phone banking and door-to-door canvassing. You will work closely alongside the Campaign Manager, assisting in organizing outreach efforts, tracking voter contact, and learning the ins and outs of political campaigning.

This role is ideal for anyone interested in gaining hands-on experience in political organizing, community engagement, and grassroots mobilization.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct phone banking to engage voters in District 11, share Reginald Rushin’s vision, and encourage voter turnout

  • Canvass neighborhoods within District 11, knocking on doors to meet and talk with residents about the campaign

  • Assist the Campaign Manager with organizing outreach schedules, tracking voter contacts, and maintaining campaign databases

  • Manage and update voter contact lists and canvassing maps to ensure outreach efforts are efficient and targeted

  • Help coordinate volunteer shifts and support volunteer recruitment efforts

  • Attend virtual and in-person campaign meetings and training sessions to stay informed and contribute ideas

  • Support digital outreach efforts by sharing campaign materials on social media or helping with email communications (if applicable)

  • Assist in preparing materials for canvassing and phone banking, such as flyers, scripts, and talking points

  • Track and report daily outreach activities and feedback from voters to the Campaign Manager

  • Provide general administrative support to the campaign team, including data entry, scheduling, and correspondence

  • Learn and apply best practices in voter engagement and grassroots organizing through virtual training sessions

Qualifications:

  • 0-2 years of experience in phone banking, canvassing, community organizing, or related activities is preferred but not required

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Passion for community organizing, political campaigns, and civic engagement

  • Reliable transportation to canvass neighborhoods in Atlanta’s District 11

What You’ll Gain:

  • Direct experience working on a local political campaign in a highly competitive Atlanta City Council race

  • Mentorship and close collaboration with the Campaign Manager and campaign leadership, providing insight into campaign strategy and management

  • Practical skills in voter outreach, grassroots organizing, data management, and effective communication

  • Hands-on experience with phone banking, canvassing, volunteer coordination, and digital campaign tools

  • Exposure to the day-to-day operations of a political campaign, including event planning and voter engagement strategies

  • Opportunities to develop leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment

  • Insight into local government, policy issues affecting Atlanta’s District 11, and the political process

  • Networking opportunities with political professionals, community leaders, and activists in Atlanta

  • A valuable addition to your resume or portfolio for future careers in politics, public service, advocacy, or community organizing

  • Access to virtual and in-person training sessions on organizing best practices and campaign techniques

Compensation:

This is currently an unpaid internship, providing valuable experience and skill-building opportunities for those looking to pursue a career in politics, organizing, or public service.

Additional Notes:

  • Flexible hours with some weekend and evening commitments for canvassing and phone banking

  • Ideal for students, recent graduates, or anyone passionate about making a difference in Atlanta’s District 11
