Position Summary:
LEE seeks a strategic, data-oriented recruiter to serve as a part-time Senior Director, National Candidate Recruitment (Temp). Reporting to the Senior Director, Elected Leadership Recruitment and Pipeline, the Senior Director will lead and execute national recruitment efforts to identify and cultivate future LEE members with the potential to run for elected office. This role will manage proactive outreach campaigns, oversee a national recruitment portfolio, and engage members in envisioning elected leadership as a path to impact. The ideal candidate combines first-hand experience navigating political landscapes with a recruitment or sales orientation, a track record of moving people from interest to action, and a deep belief in the power of values-driven civic leadership.
The Senior Director will play a critical role in building a robust, long-term candidate pipeline by implementing effective recruitment strategies and leveraging data to inform decision-making. They will partner across teams, such as Elected Leadership and Member Impact teams, to ensure members are seamlessly supported from initial interest through conversion to coaching or campaign support. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, matrixed environment, enjoys connecting with people, and brings both strong execution and strategic thinking to candidate cultivation and engagement. The Senior Director, National Candidate Recruitment is an hourly, part-time, temporary position with an end date of 12/15/2025.
Position Location: Flexible
Travel Requirements: 10-15% travel - including up to four multi-day site visits and two to three team retreats per year
Responsibilities:
Candidate Recruitment Strategy & Execution (40%)
● Partner with the Senior Director of Elected Leadership to implement components of LEE’s multi-year candidate recruitment strategy, with a focus on senior-level leaders
● Manage national candidate pipeline-building projects and recruitment campaigns
● Cultivate and advise senior-level LEE members on running for office using a variety of proven strategies, including, but not limited to, digital outreach, events, workshops, and partnership engagements
● Successfully transition senior-level members into EL coaching or directly into campaign partnership
● Create, execute, and recommend recruitment innovations to develop a more effective and efficient candidate recruitment process; share lessons of success and failure with the cross-functional Elected Leadership recruitment team
Data Management & Operational Support (30%)
● Analyze outreach and conversion trends among senior-level leaders to refine recruitment strategies and identify opportunities to pivot for greater impact
● Support planning and accountability structures for national recruitment goals
● Maintain recruitment tracking systems and contribute to performance analysis and strategy refinements
● Ensure all actions are recorded in Salesforce, trackers, and other databases in a timely and accurate manner, and analyze data to support the teams’ goals
● Utilize databases, e.g., Salesforce, Google Drive, etc., to organize and maintain accurate member records to aid in recruitment and coaching initiatives
Org-Wide Collaboration (20%)
● Collaborate across teams to build and scale effective candidate recruitment efforts, to include projects such as building digital learning products, virtual programming, and immersive fellowships
Special Projects (10%)
● Engage in team-level, org-wide, or cross-team special projects as assigned by manager or designee
● Provide short-term coverage of other Senior Director-level duties during a leave, vacancy, or PTO
Minimum Qualifications:
● Bachelor’s degree or commensurate years of work experience (If you do not hold a Bachelor’s degree, an additional 4 years of relevant experience is required. If you hold an Associate’s degree, an additional 2 years of relevant experience is required.)
● 7+ years of relevant professional experience in a combination of recruitment or sales and civic leadership, including, but not limited to, electoral campaign management, policymaking, membership-based organizing, and/or community organizing
● Demonstrated ability to drive strategy and execution autonomously across multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced, dynamic matrix organization
● Proven ability to build and leverage relationships and inspire action across diverse audiences and partners
● Strong attention to detail and demonstrated success in managing and operating data systems
● Strong data orientation with the ability to analyze data and identify useful metrics and trends to inform strategy
● Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate within a geographically dispersed team
● Strong, demonstrated commitment to LEE’s mission, core values, and theory of change
Preferred Qualifications:
● Experience personally running for elected office
● Service on a public board (elected or appointed)
● Experience in leadership development, programming, or program management
● Experience in digital engagement
● Coaching orientation or background in advising individuals through
decision-making processes
Physical Requirements & Work Demands:
● This position is primarily a sedentary role working with colleagues based around the country using remote technologies.
● The person in this position will need to have the ability to travel to in-person meetings in various U.S. cities.
● Occasional evening and/or weekend work is required.

Pay and Benefits
The position level for this role is Senior Director 1 and the corresponding hourly pay range for this position is $54.04-$83.94. Pay is competitive and based upon relevant experience and cost of labor for your location. Learn more about compensation here.
