About Rob Sand:

Auditor Rob Sand, Iowa’s only statewide elected Democrat, made a historic entrance into the governor’s race—raising a record-breaking $2.25 million within the first 24 hours. Immediately after launching his campaign, The Cook Political Report revised its rating of the Iowa governor’s race from “Solid Republican” to “Lean Republican,” a rare and significant two-tier shift. The report called Rob “the strongest contender his party could have recruited for the open seat.”
