Finance Director - Joe Tate for US Senate
Position Summary:
Former Speaker of the Michigan House Joe Tate is hiring a Finance Director to lead all aspects of the campaign’s fundraising program. This position is full-time and is based in Detroit or Lansing, Michigan.
Key Responsibilities:
Fundraising Strategy and Execution

Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising plan tailored to Michigan’s political and donor landscape.

Identify, cultivate, and solicit contributions from individuals, political action committees (PACs), unions, and other entities.

Maximize fundraising opportunities through events, call time, direct mail, online giving, and donor networks.
Donor Cultivation and Management

Build and maintain strong relationships with current and prospective donors.

Manage donor outreach, including scheduling and preparing the candidate for call time and meetings.

Prepare briefing memos ahead of meetings and events for the candidate to review with important details.

Find creative ways for the finance team to stay engaged with small- and high-dollar donors.
Event Planning and Coordination

Schedule and plan fundraising events, including house parties, receptions, and big events.

Manage all event organizing steps, including sending invitations, securing a venue, catering, tracking RSVPs, and ensuring guests have the final details.
Compliance and Reporting

Follow FEC fundraising laws to adhere to contribution limits and reporting requirements.

Work with the compliance team to keep accurate records of contributions and expenditures.
Digital Fundraising

Create a strategy to use email, texting, and social media to raise money on digital platforms.

Oversee vendors and consultants as appropriate to accomplish these goals.
Goal Tracking and Analysis

Create goals by week, month, and quarter, and regularly monitor and share progress toward these goals with the team.

Analyze fundraising performance and adjust to find solutions to meet our goals.
Team Leadership

Participates in weekly meetings with senior staff

Recruit, train, and manage finance staff, interns, and volunteers.

Delegate tasks to staff while maintaining oversight of all fundraising activities.

Foster a collaborative, high-performing, and positive work environment.
Requirements:
Experience and Qualifications
-
One cycle of federal campaign finance experience managing events.

Must be able to work campaign hours, including nights and weekends as needed.

Team-focused mentality.

Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Ability to navigate conflict and find solutions

Proficiency with campaign software (NGP, ActBlue, Canva, and Google Workspace) and project management skills
Location
The job will be based in Detroit or Lansing, Michigan and it will require travel across the state for fundraising meetings and events. You must have access to a vehicle.
Salary Range
The salary range is $10,000 to $12,000 a month based on experience. Health and dental insurance included.
