JOB DESCRIPTION

Jessica Anderson for VA Internship Program

Jessica Anderson is the Democratic candidate running to be your representative in one of the most competitive House of Delegates races in the Commonwealth of Virginia, and in 2023, came within 667 votes of victory. Our interns will serve a key purpose in flipping this seat by communicating our message to voters. This internship is an excellent opportunity to learn how campaigns are run, develop political organizing skills, and make professional connections that will last beyond this experience.

Responsibilities

  • Engage in Direct Voter Contact (DVC) to Build a Grassroots Volunteer Base and Voting Base

  • Connect with voters in their communities through canvassing

  • Speak with voters and recruit new volunteers during phonebanks

  • Organize Campus Volunteers to Drive Young Voter Support and Enthusiasm

  • Recruit student volunteers and engage progressive student organizations to support the campaign

  • Assist in planning and staffing campus events such as canvass launches, rallies, and town halls

  • Field Events

  • Assist staff during canvass launches, phonebanks, and other campaign events

  • Train volunteers to knock on doors and phonebank

  • Other Tasks

  • Help staff with creating graphics for use on Mobilize and social media

  • Assist in creating spreadsheets and other documents

  • Staff the office and greet visitors

Qualifications

  • Ability to follow instructions and carry out tasks in a timely fashion

  • Strong communication skills

  • Ability to conduct themselves professionally as a representative of the campaign

  • A willingness to work in an office with staff and speak with voters throughout the district

  • A dedication to the campaign’s mission and progressive policy

  • Internet, cell phone, and laptop access
