ABOUT THE ROLE

The Regional Philanthropic Director for the Midwest, Mid-Atlantic and South, you and your team will prospect, qualify, cultivate, solicit and steward a portfolio of donors who give or have the capacity to give $10,000 or more annually. You will report to the Chief Development Officer and work closely with the Regional Directors and the entire donor advising team as well as the Donor Organizing, Foundations and Development Operations teams. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

1. ** Donor Strategy & Revenue Generation**

  • Manage a portfolio of approximately 130 donors and prospects across the region, with full responsibility for qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.

  • Develop and present personalized funding proposals and dockets aligned with donor interests and MVP grantees.

  • Collaborate with internal teams (including Foundations, Donor Partnerships, and Donor Organizing) to align on shared strategies and funding opportunities.

2. ** Team Leadership & Fundraising Culture**

  • Mentor and coach regional fundraising team members and contractors, modeling best practices in donor engagement, proposal strategy, and CRM discipline.

  • Manage staff or contractors in your region as needed, based on fundraising performance and portfolio growth.

  • Partner with donor team leaders on strategic growth initiatives, including advisor onboarding, team capacity-building, and program refinement.

  • Contribute to a strong internal culture of collaboration, accountability, and shared learning across the fundraising team.

  1. Data, Forecasting & Portfolio Management
  • Maintain accurate, timely CRM records for all meetings, proposals, email interactions, and portfolio stage updates.

  • Analyze performance data to identify gaps, flag risks, and drive continuous improvement in forecasting and donor movement.

  • Prepare and contribute to regular portfolio reviews for internal reporting and organizational learning.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in major gifts or philanthropic advising, including managing donor relationships of $100K+ annually.

  • Confident use of CRM tools and reporting systems; self-sufficient in logging and managing donor data.

  • Able to work autonomously with little to no administrative support

  • Demonstrated ability to handle and manage confidential information

  • Knowledge of and passion for progressive movements and/or Democratic politics

Preferred Qualifications

  • Management experience

  • Past work in the progressive, social movement space

  • Located in the metro

OTHER DETAILS

Physical and Environmental Requirements

  • Location: Remote - located in the region of management. Strong preference for candidates based in the Denver, Chicago, Raleigh-Durham-Cary, or DC metro areas.

  • Up to 25% travel for donor meetings, staff meetings

Direct Reports

  • Currently one Donor Advisor, with potential to grow the team over time.

SALARY & BENEFITS

Salary Range: $140,000.00-170,000.00 (based on experience), plus a generous benefits package.
