Location: New York, NY
Reports to: Communications Director
Salary: $3,000-$3,500

The Social Media Manager will be responsible for owning and executing the campaign’s digital storytelling strategy across platforms including Instagram, Twitter/X, Threads, Facebook, TikTok, and others. Majority of the hours will be nights and weekends. Longer availability will be needed in the final 6 weeks of the campaign. This role includes video creation, live coverage, and content posting, as well as close coordination with the candidate as their day-to-day digital “body person” to capture authentic moments and driving real-time engagement.
Key Responsibilities

Content Creation & Management

Film, edit, and post daily video content — both polished and organic — across platforms.

Write engaging, on-brand copy for posts, captions, and threads in coordination with the communications director.

Maintain and execute the campaign’s social media calendar

Monitor trends, hashtags, and current events for rapid-response and reactive content

Capture and edit content on the fly while traveling with the candidate

On-the-Ground Coverage

Accompany the candidate to events and appearances to film behind-the-scenes and live moments

Ensure timely posting and engagement before, during, and after events

Maintain a steady flow of high-quality content that reflects the tone and values of the campaign

Strategy & Engagement

Collaborate with the communications team to ensure message alignment

Track performance metrics and adjust strategies based on analytics

Engage with followers, respond to comments and DMs when appropriate

Stay up-to-date on trends in political and movement digital media
Qualifications
-
1–2+ years of experience in digital media, content creation, or campaign communications

Proficiency in mobile video production, editing (e.g., CapCut, Adobe Premiere Rush, Canva)

Strong writer with an intuitive grasp of tone, brand, and voice
-
Deep understanding of social media platforms, algorithms, and best practices

Highly organized, quick-thinking, and able to manage multiple deadlines

Willingness to work irregular hours and travel regularly with the candidate

Ability to maintain confidentiality, discretion, and professionalism at all times
