JOB DESCRIPTION

Delegate Joshua Cole’s re-election campaign for Virginia’s 65th House District is seeking a dedicated and passionate Communications Fellow. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in one of the most competitive races in the Commonwealth in 2025. The Communications Fellow will provide communications support for Delegate Joshua Cole’s re-election campaign, including managing his social media presence, identifying and executing earned media opportunities, and drafting press releases and other written materials as needed.

The communications fellowship with the Cole for VA Team is a part-time, in-person position based in Fredericksburg, VA, with a start date of June 28th through Election Day (November 4th). The Communications Fellow will report directly to the Political Director and is expected to work 15–20 hours per week. Fellows will receive a $2,000 stipend.

Responsibilities include:

  • Manage the candidate’s social media presence on Instagram, X, Bluesky, and Facebook

  • Work collaboratively with members of senior staff to develop talking points, email drafts, and other materials as needed

  • Performing data entry, research projects, and learning about current events and issues throughout the district

  • Staffing the candidate at in-district events

  • Other duties as determined

Qualifications and requirements:

  • Communications and campaign experience preferred

  • Strong writing and interpersonal skills, with the ability to clearly communicate political issues and the stakes of the election with diverse audiences

  • Willingness to staff the candidate at in-person events is necessary; strong preference given to applicants living in HD-65

  • Technical fluency with social media platforms

  • Comfort working in fast-paced environment

  • Must have a valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle
