JOB DESCRIPTION

State Senator Robert Peters’ campaign for Congress in IL-02 is hiring an Organizing Director to build a robust organizing program and lead the day-to-day field operations of the campaign. Since launching his campaign, Senator Peters has been endorsed by Senator Bernie Sanders, Leaders We Deserve, College Democrats of America, ATU, UFCW Local 881, and over a dozen local elected officials and community leaders. In his first six weeks as a candidate, Senator Peters raised $415,000 from over 10,000 individual donors.

This is a full-time, in-person position based in the Chicago area through the primary on March 17th, 2026. The salary is $5,500/month and a healthcare stipend is available. Applicants should submit a resume with the subject line “LAST NAME - Organizing Director” to [email protected].

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive field and organizing program

  • Establish targeting priorities through canvassing, phonebanking, textbanking, and relational in coordination with the Campaign Manager

  • Recruit, train, and manage campaign fellows and volunteers

  • Set ambitious voter contact goals and monitor progress-to-goal

  • Manage the petitioning process, including training volunteers, conducting voter contact, and ensuring data integrity

  • Manage paid canvasser program

  • Identify in-district political priorities in coordination with Campaign Manager

  • Build and maintain relationships with community leaders and stakeholders

Qualifications

  • Strong interpersonal skills, very well organized, and extremely detail oriented

  • Willingness to learn, grow, and work with a team and principal

  • Professional demeanor and willingness to adapt to a changing environment

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and work a campaign’s irregular hours, including some nights and weekends

  • 1+ cycle of organizing experience is required

  • Proficiency in VAN and distributed organizing tools

  • A valid driver’s license and vehicle
