JOB DESCRIPTION

Role Overview

Emily Jabbour is seeking part-time interns to assist with campaign tasks as needed before the November election and potential December run-off. This internship is ideal for a motivated student or recent graduate interested in politics, government, or public service.

Emily was elected to the Hoboken City Council in 2017 and was re-elected in 2021.

For 19 years, Emily has proudly worked as a civil servant for the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services in the Administration for Children and Families (ACF). Emily has lived in Hoboken since 2008 and founded the Hudson County Chapter of Moms Demand Action, a grassroots advocacy organization focused on preventing gun violence, which led to her path into local politics. Emily has a Master of Science in Social Work Policy from Columbia University School of Social Work, and a Bachelor of Arts from Boston College. Emily is a mom of two daughters (ages 10 and 12), an active supporter of the Hoboken Public Education Foundation, and a regular volunteer with the Hoboken Food Pantry (part of the Hoboken Community Center).

On the City Council, Emily has led the Vision Zero Task Force to address pedestrian safety, spearheaded strengthening rent control protections for tenants, served as Council President in 2023, and has been the most responsive City Councilmember when it comes to constituent questions and concerns.
