JOB DESCRIPTION
Overview:
The Political Director will be responsible for planning and executing quarterly meetings, supporting party committees at all levels, and other tasks as designated with the goal of strengthening the organizational structure of DPVA to be best positioned to elect Democrats each year. This position is based in Richmond, Virginia and will report to the Executive Director.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Plan and execute the quarterly meetings of the State Central and Steering Committees;

Work with the Secretary of the Central Committee to maintain the roster of the Central Committee;

Assist Party Committees at all levels along with the constituency caucuses to comply with their responsibilities in the DPVA Party Plan;

Serve as the liaison between party organizations, chairs, activists, partner organizations, and the State Party;

Maintain, draft, and implement documents related to conducting Party business (except financial);

Manage the internal workings of the DPVA Political Department;

Other duties as may be assigned.
Desired Skills and Qualifications:
-
At least three (3) years experience working in Democratic Politics with a Party Organization or Campaign;

Virginia experience is a plus;
-
Demonstrated experience working with an organization’s governing bodies;

Possess a strong knowledge of how a State Democratic Party operates;

Familiarity with drafting bylaws and other internal party documents;
-
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships in a statewide position;

Self-motivated with the ability and creativity to solve problems as they arise;

Proficiency with traditional office and campaign software including: VoteBuilder, Google Suite, Zoom, and Microsoft Office;

Reliable transportation and the ability/willingness to travel statewide as needed;

A working knowledge of election deadlines and general campaign operations.
