Position Summary:
LEE is seeking a strategic campaign professional to serve as the Director, Candidate Development. Reporting to the Senior Director, Candidate Leadership & Strategy, this role manages a portfolio of candidates and provides day-to-day coaching and expertise across all aspects of a campaign including fundraising, field, targeting, data, media, and communications. The Director tracks campaign progress, delivers responsive tactical support, and partners across the Elected Leadership team to ensure members receive high-quality, tailored support that builds their leadership, strengthens campaign strategy, and increases their likelihood of success. The ideal candidate has led or supported multiple campaigns across different levels of government and municipalities and brings the strategic skills, responsiveness, and nonpartisan approach needed to help LEE members run and win effective campaigns.

**Position Location: **Flexible
**Travel Requirements: **20-40% dependent on position location. Travel will fluctuate based on election support cycles, and will depend on geographic distribution of candidates in the portfolio.
Responsibilities:
Campaign Management and Execution (40%)
-
Coach, develop, and support a portfolio of candidates in highly contested, complex races on core aspects of campaigns and political operations

Serve as a campaign advisor to candidates to develop their ability to run high quality, effective campaigns, including connecting candidates to resources and campaign specialists

Assist candidates in rapid response and immediate tactical needs
-
Coordinate with external stakeholders, staff, vendors, and consultants to support members’ best interest and uphold LEE core values

Track, monitor, and maintain the financial relationship between candidates and LEE to ensure legal compliance
High-level Campaign Strategy/ Development (35%)
-
Develop relationships with member candidates to design campaign plans and provide direction and vision in support of campaign strategies

Provide insight and expertise on cutting-edge campaign tools and modern campaign ideas

Support candidates in reviewing public messaging documents for accuracy and effectiveness
-
Identify and create opportunities for member candidates to reach performance metrics

Develop or approve campaign budgets
Track and maintain individual and team data (15%)
-
Create candidate projects so that Elected Leadership-Develop team can collaborate (e.g., in Asana)

Monitor internal data system, enter campaign data and create regular campaign progress reports

Enter key campaign benchmarks and data into systems, present data to colleagues, and utilize data to enrich member experience/growth
Special Projects (10%)

Lead or contribute to team-level, org-wide, or cross-team special projects to accelerate impact as assigned by manager or designee

Provide short-term coverage of other Director-level duties during a leave, vacancy, or PTO
Minimum Qualifications:
-
Bachelor’s degree or commensurate work experience (If you do not hold a Bachelor’s degree an additional 4 years of relevant experience is required. If you hold an Associate’s degree an additional 2 years of relevant experience is required.)

5+ years of relevant professional work experience including experience with at least three election campaign cycles
-
Experience with at least two election campaign cycles as a campaign manager or in a senior leadership role
-
Campaign experience managing several campaigns simultaneously, which may also include campaign experience across multiple levels of government, multiple states and municipalities

Expansive experience in campaign strategy and campaign development
-
Highly effective communication, coaching, and relationship building skills

Ability to track and analyze metrics efficiently and effectively

Proven ability to manage high quality, high-impact driven people
-
Comfortable operating and contributing in a fast paced, entrepreneurial environment

Demonstrated emotional literacy building relationships in nonpartisan spaces

Team-oriented, flexible, and collaborative mindset

Ability to work occasional weekends and evenings

Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate within a geographically dispersed team

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with at least four election campaign cycles

Experience managing teams to data-driven results
Physical Requirements & Work Demands:

This position is primarily a sedentary role working with colleagues based around the country using remote technologies.

The person in this position will need to have the ability to travel to in-person meetings in various U.S. cities.

Occasional evening and/or weekend work is required.

Benefits and Pay
The position level for this role is Director 1 and the corresponding pay range for this position is $81,700-$123,120. ** **Pay is competitive and based upon relevant experience and cost of labor for your location.
