POSITION DESCRIPTION

A progressive candidate is seeking a campaign manager for a high-energy grassroots campaign for New York State Senate. This role has the power to pass more progressive, effective, and innovative policies and funding streams to communities throughout Queens, NYC, and New York State, and reshape the balance of power and community voice in Albany. To help us get there, we are seeking a passionate, hardworking, and experienced Campaign Manager.

The Campaign Manager provides high-level leadership and support for the candidate and will oversee/manage the campaign team (fundraiser, field director, communications associate, and other roles as needed) and coordinate with the candidate, ensuring the role is set up for success and has the resources and support they need.

The Campaign Manager is responsible for developing the overall strategy for our grassroots campaign for a key State Senate office, in partnership with the campaign’s kitchen cabinet and candidate. This role includes working closely with the fundraising team, advising on all events, communications, field activities, hiring decisions, and community relations.

He/she/they will be the head of the Campaign Team.

The ideal candidate has outstanding management and leadership ability, communication skills, campaign fundraising experience, and an understanding of New York/Queens policy and politics. The position is an excellent opportunity to hone organizational leadership skills while working with a diverse and dynamic team of leaders, making a real impact locally and statewide.

KEY COMPETENCIES + DUTIES:

  • Lead a team of passionate, energetic campaign staff members across multiple **** neighborhoods, integrating neighborhood and county work with state-wide partners

  • Serve as a key thought partner with the development team and oversee fundraising strategy in partnership with the candidate

  • Lead the campaign launch process with clear recommendations and criteria

  • Support in the development of the campaign agenda, in collaboration with the Candidate, Comms Associate, and kitchen cabinet.

  • In partnership with the Candidate, lead the strategic development of community leads/teams, including organizational structure

  • Work with the Candidate to develop the long-term vision of the campaign, strategies to improve our work and organization, and help ensure staff are set up for success in terms of community integration.

  • Travel throughout Queens, NYC, and to related political events

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • 4+ years of experience in organizing, policy advocacy, legislative, and/or political campaign work

  • At least one year of full-time city, state, or Congressional campaign experience for a progressive candidate, ideally in New York

  • Outstanding leadership ability, management instincts, political acumen, and verbal communication ability.

  • Experience managing full-time staff, including supervising staff in managerial roles, with demonstrated ability to grow team members to take on greater leadership roles

  • Strong understanding of the political process, and how organizing, policy, and modern communications (social and earned media) can work together to move a campaign

  • Outstanding field, fundraising, and editing skills, and a track record of success

  • Solutions-oriented attitude, dedicated work ethic, passion for the mission

  • Experience with young adult engagement or related activity

  • Experience with launching and growing a small grassroots campaign preferred

  • Strong commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging

Full-time in-person CM preferred from campaign launch through completion, but open to discussion for other arrangements.

Dates: Immediately through June 24th, 2026 Primary. The general election is in November 2026.
