JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Summary: The Lisa for Virginia campaign is hiring a full-time Digital Director to support the campaign’s social media strategy and build its online presence in one of the most competitive and high-profile House races in the country. The ideal candidate will be a creative, mission-driven team player with strong attention to detail who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can grow following and engagement across social platforms within and outside of VA-01.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Campaign Manager to develop an aggressive, scalable social media strategy to increase the campaign’s online presence and strategically leverage it to hit key goals

  • Help create and execute a goal-oriented content schedule across campaign social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, X, Bluesky, and Tik Tok)

  • Own content creation including ideation, capturing photo and video at events and for other digital opportunities, creating graphics, writing social copy, and editing photos and videos

  • Ideate and execute creative tactics to amplify posts and increase engagement

  • Lead collaborations with influencers and local content creators, including creating toolkits

  • Monitor national and local media to take advantage of rapid response opportunities

  • Update the official campaign website on a regular basis

  • Support with the drafting of email newsletters, press releases, and event recaps

  • Regularly analyze and report on social media metrics to make adjustments to strategy

  • Additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • 2+ cycles of work experience (or equivalent) contributing to the social media program of a political campaign, organization, or non-profit, including 1+ leading social media strategy or owning content creation

  • Proven experience quickly growing following and engagement across social platforms

  • Proven experience creating a cohesive digital communications plan

  • Ability to capture engaging photo and video content on phone and use/quickly learn to use other cameras

  • Experience with graphic design and photo and video editing software (i.e. Canva, photoshop, illustrator, Capcut, TikTok/IG reels)

  • Understanding of the general and political social media landscape, including knowledge of current trends across platforms

This is a full-time, hybrid position based in Richmond, VA with in-person responsibilities expected in Richmond and throughout the district at least a couple times per week. We are also open to a remote candidate who is willing to come to the district 1-2 days / week. Reliable access to a car is required. The salary for this position is between $5,000-$7,500 / month, depending on experience.
