What we are looking for
We are now hiring for a newly created ** Business Development Director** to drive market development for Electica in the US. The role will lead Electica's US market expansion and revenue growth, driving multi-million dollar client relationships while building scalable sales infrastructure. This senior role combines hands-on sales execution with strategic business development, requiring deep political industry knowledge, connections, and proven sales leadership. They’ll be responsible for both immediate revenue targets and long-term lead development across our programmatic advertising and self-serve platform offerings.
The role can be based anywhere in North America, as Electica is a global company, with staff around the world. We are fully remote but tightly knit. We work hard to stay connected despite the distance, and we organize mandatory in-person retreats twice a year to align on strategy and bond with teammates. Previous locations include Spain, Los Angeles, Dublin, and Jamaica!

Position Overview
The Business Development Director will lead Electica's US market expansion and revenue growth, driving multi-million dollar client relationships while building scalable sales infrastructure. This senior role combines hands-on sales execution with strategic business development, requiring deep political industry knowledge, connections, and proven sales leadership. Reporting to the Director of Client Success, you'll be responsible for both immediate revenue targets and long-term lead development across our programmatic advertising and self-serve platform offerings.
Core Responsibilities
Sales (90%)

Revenue Ownership: Drive $10M+ in new business acquisition

Market Strategy: Develop and execute outreach and sales strategies for different US client segments (campaigns, PACs, advocacy organizations, agencies) based on growth opportunities within the political and advocacy landscape.

Sales Processes: Shape and operate within existing company sales processes from prospecting through proposal and sale.

Competitive Positioning: Lead competitive intelligence and differentiation strategies against major players.

Product/Service Feedback: Serve as a key liaison between clients and internal product/development teams, providing valuable feedback for product enhancement and new service development based on market needs.

Proposal Oversight: Work with the Accounts team to ensure that proposals meet the needs of prospective clients.

Performance Reporting: Regularly report on sales performance, pipeline status, and market insights to senior leadership, identifying areas for improvement and strategic adjustments.

International Coordination: Align US sales strategies with EU/UK/Canada operations for multinational clients and cross-border campaigns.
Relationship Management (10%)

Strategic Account Engagement: Nurture relationships with top-tier clients, ensuring retention and expansion opportunities.

Executive Relationship Building: Develop C-suite and senior strategist relationships across campaigns, advocacy groups, and agencies.

Crisis Management: Handle sensitive client situations during high-stakes campaign periods.
Required Experience and Expertise
Must Have:
Industry Expertise

Political Background: 7+ years in US political campaigns, advocacy, or political technology with demonstrated network of decision-makers.

Digital Advertising Experience: Firm understanding of the needs of political campaigns vis-a-vis Digital Advertising, technologies, strategies, and regulations.

Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with FEC compliance, state-level political advertising requirements, and cross-border political advertising restrictions.
Sales Leadership

Sales Experience: 5+ years managing $1M+ deals in the politics/advocacy space.

Revenue Accountability: Demonstrated history of meeting/exceeding revenue targets in competitive markets.
Nice to Have:

Senior Campaign and/or Agency Experience: Previous Digital Director, Campaign Manager, or similar senior campaign roles and/or experience at political advertising agencies or consulting firms.

International Experience: Work on campaigns or advocacy in multiple countries.

Language Skills: Spanish language capability for expanding Latino outreach market.
