Position Overview
As a Canvasser, you will be on the front lines of our outreach efforts. You’ll engage with community members face-to-face, discuss issues or initiatives, provide information, and encourage people to take action (sign a petition, commit to volunteer, share info, etc.). Your role is critical to building awareness, trust, and momentum in neighborhoods across the southwest suburbs.
Key Responsibilities

Interact with residents in neighborhoods, public spaces, and door-to-door to inform them about issues, initiatives, or campaigns

Deliver a clear, friendly, and persuasive message

Answer questions, engage in conversation, and address concerns

Collect signatures, commitments, or responses as directed

Accurately record data from interactions (using mobile app, clipboard, or data sheets)

Follow safety protocols and adhere to local canvassing laws/regulations

Attend training sessions, team briefings, and debriefings

Work independently in the field, and collaborate with team leads and coordinators

Help with logistics: distributing materials, picking up or returning supplies, tracking zones
Qualifications & Skills

Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills

Outgoing, confident, and comfortable initiating conversations with strangers

Self-motivated, reliable, and able to manage time efficiently

Comfortable working outdoors and walking for extended periods

Ability to learn talking points and adjust based on feedback

Previous experience in canvassing, petitioning, field outreach, sales, customer service, or campaigning is a plus

Basic comfort with using mobile devices or tablets to record data

Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.

Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends

Work Schedule

Typical shifts may run from 10:30 AM to 6:30 PM, 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM, or similar hours

Workdays may include weekends and evenings, depending on campaign needs

Part-time and full-time availability welcomed
