The dominance of the right-wing media and propaganda networks spreading mis- and disinformation into the mainstream underscores the significance of controlling the narrative—meeting people where they are. We see evidence of this in online discussions about a variety of issues—taxation, housing, climate change, reproductive freedom, education—as well as broader narratives about success, failure, and the government’s effectiveness (or lack thereof) in addressing societal challenges.
Amplify New Hampshire is the state’s centralized, cross-issue, progressive communications hub with an annual operating budget of $1 million to $1.5 million (www.amplifynh.org). Similar to successful communications hubs in other states, Amplify works in close partnership with the state’s donor table, New Hampshire Progress Alliance.
Amplify’s mission is to advance a broad, data-driven progressive agenda through issue advocacy, electoral campaigns, and values-based narratives. To advance its mission, Amplify develops and implements statewide communications strategies to expand public support for center-left causes and policies. Amplify provides a diverse group of partners with research-driven messages, framing, and training tailored to their needs and audiences by:
● Conducting rigorous message testing and polling research.
● Creating, coordinating, and disseminating issues-based and electoral messages on multiple platforms.
● Developing and advancing positive and unifying narratives for New Hampshire’s future.
● Providing training and support to allies on those narratives.
● Engaging and mobilizing grassroots support.
● Cultivating an extensive network of trained, trusted messengers.
● Ensuring that media outlets include diverse voices in their news coverage.
● Generating compelling earned media; managing content creation for social media channels and on occasion strategizing and overseeing paid media campaigns.
This role requires a unique and diverse set of skills, attributes, and experience. We are looking for a seasoned communications and campaign strategist—someone who understands power-building, dynamics of a diverse coalition, and values-based narrative change. The ideal candidate should be collaborative, a big picture thinker, a supportive manager, and someone who is able to execute thoughtfully but quickly and efficiently.
