Campaigns Director

The Maine Senate Democratic Campaign Committee (SDCC), a full-time political organization dedicated to building a Democratic majority in the Maine Senate, ** seeks an experienced Campaigns Director to run an aggressive grassroots operation to help us protect and expand our majority in 2026. **

The Maine Senate is a top-targeted legislative chamber in 2026, with a majority that was won by less than 900 votes in 2024. The Campaigns Director will work directly with the Executive Director to develop a field plan, manage paid media programs, implement reporting structures, manage staff, and coordinate all 35 state senate campaigns.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Campaigns Director will oversee the 2026 field and paid communications programs for legislative candidates. Duties will include, but are not limited to:

● Managing a staff of 6-8 Regional Campaign Directors

● Drafting, implementing, and executing a statewide field plan

● Helping candidates meet volunteer and voter ID goals

● Training candidates and campaign teams on best field practices

● Working with candidates and their teams on messaging, paid media, and earned media ● Helping candidates and campaign teams oversee campaign budgets

● Creating a goal-driven and goal-dependent campaign structure for each race

● Working with candidates on other field activities, as needed

● Any other campaign-related tasks, as needed

REQUIREMENTS:

● 2+ cycles of field experience

● Experience recruiting, hiring, training, and managing field staff is preferred

● Experience overseeing campaign budgets and paid media programs is preferred ● Experience managing some aspect of a GOTV operation

● Experience targeting and creating persuasion universes based on modeling

● Extensive knowledge of and experience working with VoteBuilder (VAN)

● Extensive experience with Excel and/or Google Sheets

● Good interpersonal skills, effective communication skills, and an ability to work independently and as part of a team

PAY & BENEFITS:

Full-time employees are eligible for benefits, including health care, vision, and dental insurance; sick leave; paid time off; and more. Salary is between $78,000 and $92,500 annually, commensurate with experience. Must be able to work long, irregular hours and travel frequently around Maine. This position will run through December 2026, and employees should expect to live and work on the ground in Maine no later than November 2025.
