Coordinated Campaign Director

The Democratic Party of Illinois (DPI) is seeking a dynamic individual to fill the position of Coordinated Campaign Director. The Coordinated Campaign Director will manage the 2026 General Election statewide program that will protect and expand Democratic control up and down the ticket.

About the Democratic Party of Illinois

DPI is dedicated to electing Democrats at all levels across Illinois while building the most active, inclusive, and diverse party possible. Organize Illinois 2026, DPI’s Coordinated Campaign, will serve as the base of operations for statewide campaign activity to elect and protect Democrats in Illinois in the 2026 midterm election cycle. The Coordinated Campaign is a division of DPI that pools resources for field and critical get-out-the-vote (GOTV) activities for the entire Democratic ticket.

What Will You Do?

The Coordinated Campaign Director (CCD) is responsible for working with key stakeholders to develop and manage a statewide coordinated campaign, including well-funded voter contact and direct mail programs.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Oversee the development of a statewide campaign plan, in partnership with the Statewide Coordinated Table and DPI senior staff, to win targeted seats for Democrats up and down the ticket;

  • Execute a data informed statewide voter contact and voter protection program, include investments in field and paid communications, to turn out Democratic voters in support of the statewide ticket;

  • Oversee the Coordinated Campaign’s seven figure budget;

  • Assist in fundraising efforts to facilitate Coordinated Campaign programming;

  • Build and maintain communications systems and relationships with Coordinated Table partners and other relevant external stakeholders to ensure the efficient and effective implementation of all organic and paid voter contact programs;

  • Hire and manage Coordinated Campaign staff for the execution of the statewide Coordinated Campaign plan;

  • Manage consultants and vendors to execute Coordinated Campaign programming.

Who are you?

The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of the tactics and tools needed to run an effective voter contact program at the statewide level. The ideal candidate is a natural leader, consensus builder, and a passionate promoter of Democratic values. They will be creative, highly organized, and a self-starter. An understanding of Illinois’ complex political and demographic landscape and familiarity with campaign finance law is preferred.

Qualifications

  • At least one cycle in a management position on a statewide campaign or in a senior position at a Party Organization OR two or more cycles in a senior leadership position on a campaign for public office;

  • Demonstrated experience successfully building and executing a campaign for public office;

  • Demonstrated experience managing large teams of staff and consultants;

  • Proven track record of hiring, onboarding, and management of staff in diverse roles;

  • Experience managing large budgets and executing comprehensive paid programming;

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build consensus with diverse partners;

  • Familiarity with voter contact tools and campaign compliance software;

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;

  • Effective time management skills, including prioritizing and managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment;

  • Ability to effectively collaborate and work well with internal staff and external stakeholders at all levels, and;

  • Demonstrated ability to be flexible and able to adapt quickly to meet project needs.

Job Details

Applicants must live in or be willing to relocate to Chicago, Illinois. Applicants must have the ability to travel throughout the state for up to several days at a time and must have a valid driver’s license.

The salary range for this role is $100,000 – $130,000. DPI also offers a generous benefits package with the opportunity for continued growth after the election cycle.
