DESCRIPTION
The Chris Gallant for Congress campaign is seeking motivated and passionate interns to join our team in New York’s 1st Congressional District. This internship program offers students and young professionals a hands-on opportunity to learn the inner workings of a competitive congressional campaign while making a direct impact on the race. Interns will gain valuable experience in political fundraising, event planning, data management, donor relations, and overall campaign strategy.
The right candidates will be creative, detail-oriented, and eager to learn about political organizing and finance at the federal level. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in political science, communications, fundraising, public service, or nonprofit management.
OVERVIEW
This is an unpaid internship based in Long Island, NY, with remote flexibility available. The campaign is happy to work with students to secure college credit or internship program approval through their academic institution. Start and end dates are flexible, and scheduling can be adjusted to accommodate academic calendars, work commitments, and availability. Interns will report to senior members of the campaign team and collaborate across departments.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Support campaign staff in daily operations, helping advance field, communications, finance, and outreach efforts.
Assist in planning and staffing campaign events, such as town halls, fundraisers, and volunteer training.
Help recruit, train, and manage volunteers for voter contact and community engagement activities.
Conduct political and issue-based research to support campaign messaging and strategy.
Assist with social media and digital content creation to help reach voters online.
Participate in voter outreach efforts, including phone banking, canvassing, and community tabling events.
Conduct donor research and help maintain and update the campaign’s donor database.
Represent the campaign professionally in all interactions with voters, partners, and media.
Perform other tasks as assigned to support the overall success of the campaign.
QUALIFICATIONS
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Excellent communication and writing abilities.
Ability to work independently and as part of a fast-paced team.
Interest in politics, public service, or community engagement.
Willingness to learn and take initiative.
Proficiency with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office; experience with NGP or similar database tools is a plus but not required.
