About the Role
The Production Director oversees all aspects of the production process, including print management, vendor coordination, quality control, scheduling, and delivery logistics. This role requires a combination of project management expertise, vendor relationship skills, and a deep understanding of the print production process. The ideal candidate is organized, deadline-driven, and thrives under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
This is a remote, full-time position. Candidates must be based in the U.S., and have access to reliable, high-speed internet.
Responsibilities

Manage end-to-end production process for direct mail campaigns, ensuring quality, timeliness, and cost-efficiency.

Serve as the primary point of contact for printers, mail houses, the USPS, and other production vendors

Oversee production timelines and coordinate with client service teams to meet client deadlines

Source quotes and negotiate pricing with vendors while maintaining high production standards

Create and manage production schedules across multiple projects, ensuring proper sequencing and delivery

Monitor and enforce quality control standards across all production assets, this includes proofreading materials before sending to printers

Troubleshoot production issues and proactively identify solutions

Maintain accurate records of print specs, quantities, delivery instructions, and postal documentation

Ensure all mailings are compliant with USPS regulations and political disclosure requirements

Support innovation by identifying new vendors, production techniques, and cost-saving opportunities

Assist in the maintenance of the firm’s project management system by learning how it functions, helping troubleshoot issues, and serving as the backup to the primary system administrator to ensure smooth operations

Other duties as assigned — as a small, fast-growing firm, we expect all team members to be flexible and willing to lend a hand across projects when needed.
You Should Have

5+ years of experience in print production, direct mail, or political consulting (political mail experience preferred)

Strong understanding of print processes, finishing, data handling, and mail logistics

Familiarity with USPS regulations and political compliance guidelines

Proven experience managing high volumes of projects under tight deadlines

Excellent negotiation and vendor management skills

Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with long hours during peak seasons

Proficiency in project management tools (i.e. Asana, Wrike, Monday, etc.), Excel/Google Sheets, and file management systems

Comfort working across time zones with remote colleagues and clients

Work Culture & Compensation
This is a full-time, permanent position. We operate primarily during Central Time hours and expect team members to be available and engaged from 9am–6pm CT. While we offer flexibility to accommodate campaign demands and promote a healthy work-life balance through flex hours and remote-first policies, outside employment or side projects may not interfere with availability or performance during core hours.
