Position Type: Full-time

About Salt River Valley Project

Salt River Valley Project (SRVP) helps blue states govern better and wield power more effectively. We are a small team of strategists working to leverage, coordinate, and scale blue state legal, executive, legislative, and economic power to win policy fights and defend American democracy. As a center of gravity for bold and creative state-level action, we help blue states push back –– individually and collectively –– against federal and red state aggression that threatens to undermine their own self-governance and American democracy writ large.

Role Description

SRVP is seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented, and politically savvy Associate to drive key operational initiatives, conduct high-impact research, and support the Chief of Staff in advancing organizational priorities. The Associate will play a critical role across communications, policy research, and organizational strategy –– contributing directly to SRVP’s impact and efficiency. This person will apply strong analytical skills, operational discipline, and thoughtful research to help drive the organization’s mission and goals and support the team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative and operational support for the team, including contract management, vendor coordination, and day-to-day scheduling for leadership team.

  • Proactively identify ways to help the team run smoothly with a positive, “no-task-too-small,” can-do attitude.

  • Conduct in-depth policy and political research, draft memos, and other strategic communications materials.

  • Lead discrete special projects.

  • Assist with event planning, stakeholder engagement, and project-tracking.

Qualifications

  • Exceptional organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail and a strong ability to prioritize competing demands in a fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distill complex information into clear, actionable insights.

  • At least one year of relevant professional experience required; experience in at least one political campaign cycle preferred.

  • Excellent people management skills, including strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.

  • Mission-driven and eager to take initiative — looking to contribute to a high-impact, start-up style team dedicated to the fight to save the United States.

Expectations

  • We expect the fellow will work in our DC office 5 days a week. There will be occasional flexibility for remote days.

  • We expect that this is a ~45-50 hour-a-week position most weeks, although we expect the Associate to be available, online, and responsive during some evenings and weekends.

  • There may be occasional travel for events and meetings.

Compensation

The annual compensation for this role is $75,000-85,000, commensurate with experience. SRVP also offers competitive benefits and 15 paid vacation days.
