About the Position

FCDP is hiring a full-time Organizing Director to lead our organizing efforts in the county. We anticipate this role to be on-going within FCDP, and is a regular, full-time role.

The Organizing Director is responsible for overseeing the development and execution of strategic field plans, bolstering FCDP’s organizational structure, and managing the day-to-day organizing activities of the Party. The Organizing Director reports directly to the County Chair and works in close collaboration with the Executive Board and Precinct Leaders in executing their duties and the day-to-day operations of the Party. Responsibilities also include, but are not limited to:

Key Responsibilities:

Precinct Building & Organizing

Maintain a focus on the FCDP strategic plan of organizing our volunteers, getting out the vote and with a focus on our communities that are currently unorganized and where voter turnout has distinct room for improvement.

Recruit, train, and support precinct officers, volunteers, and community organizers across Forsyth County.

Build and maintain relationships with local Democratic leaders, elected officials, and partner organizations.

Facilitate regular precinct engagement to strengthen communication and collective action.

Coordinate leadership development opportunities to grow the Party’s organizing capacity and long-term infrastructure.

Integrate data-driven and relational organizing best practices into ongoing volunteer.

Campaign Coordination

Develop and execute the County Party’s coordinated campaign strategy to elect Democrats and support progressive referenda at every level.

Plan and manage field operations, including voter contact, targeting, canvassing, phone banking, texting, and relational organizing.

Coordinate with state and regional partners, including the North Carolina Democratic Party, to align resources and campaign messaging.

Analyze results and adjust tactics to ensure measurable success in voter contact and turnout.

Communication & Technology

Support internal and external communication across Party committees, officers, precinct leaders, and community stakeholders.

Help manage the Party’s digital presence, including FCDPNC.org, Google Workspace, ActionNetwork, and social media platforms.

Support the creation and distribution digital materials for recruitment, events, and campaign communications.

Maintain accurate data systems and ensure effective use of technology for voter outreach and volunteer management.

Provide basic tech support and training to volunteers and officers to ensure smooth use of Party tools.

Oversee data management through VAN/Votebuilder and other tools to track voter outreach, GOTV efforts, and engagement metrics.

General Operations

Assist with administrative and logistical duties supporting the Party’s mission, vision, and strategic plan.

Support the County Chair and Executive Committee with planning, reporting, and event coordination.

Manage schedules, meeting logistics, and expense reporting as needed.

Represent the Forsyth County Democratic Party in community events and coalition meetings.

Promote a culture of collaboration, inclusion, and accountability in all aspects of Party work.

Qualifications

3–5 years of experience in campaign organizing, community engagement, or political fieldwork.

Demonstrated success leading volunteers and managing data-driven field or advocacy programs.

Self-motivated, having the ability to work autonomously, while also being a team player and able to colaborate with the Chair, Executive Team, and volunteers.

Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills.

Proficiency with digital tools, including VAN/Votebuilder, Mobilize, Google Workspace, Canva, and Mobilize.

Commitment to Democratic values, grassroots organizing, and community empowerment.

Flexible schedule with the ability to work evenings and weekends as needed, especially during election cycles.

Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.

Experience

Strong applicants will have a minimum of 3+ cycles of electoral experience across a county or state, running as a candidate, working on a campaign organization, serving as a Democratic Party officer, or similar. Experience managing volunteers is strongly preferred.

Requirements

In addition to the skills necessary to perform the above activities, the following skills are also required:

● Working understanding of the NC electoral process to support grassroots organization and mobilization

● Proactive mindset to continually seek out opportunities to contribute

● Strong critical thinking and analytical skills to address complex challenges

● Ability to work in fast-paced environments and manage competing priorities

● Positive interpersonal skills and the ability to foster supportive, collaborative teams

● Mission-driven work ethic to lead a volunteer organization from the front for long hours during demanding organizational and electoral seasons

Compensation and Benefits

The anticipated salary range for this position is $4,500 - $5,500 per month. The compensation package includes a health insurance benefits stipend of $425/mo.
