JOB DESCRIPTION
TJ Ware’s campaign is seeking a full-time communication staffer to be responsible for leading and managing the day to day messaging and media of the campaign from through the March 3rd, 2026 Primary. The position is based in Keller, TX, hybrid position negotiable.
Responsibilities include:

Maintains a message calendar to drive campaign coverage

Manages all press relations for the campaign, including serving as on-the-record spokesperson as needed, and works to identify the right spokesperson for each story.

Monitors media sources and conducts rapid response around breaking news.

Sets goals for media coverage in local, regional, and national outlets to drive key narratives and increase campaign visibility

Develops media relationships in media markets across the state.

Manages all earned media events

Consults on campaign paid communications

Provides training and consultation to staff, storytellers, and others on messaging and media.

Collaborates with Organizing team to develop and implement media and digital strategies for issue campaigns, including identifying earned media opportunities.

Meets/communicates regularly with staff peers to ensure that communications efforts are in concert with campaign goals and strategies.

Maintains media catalog to track opponents media hits.
Who Are You?
As a successful candidate for the job, you will:

Commitment to the mission and values of the campaign

Experience in campaign, advocacy-related or policy-related communications, preferable 2+ years of experience.

Demonstrated ability to conceive, draft, proofread and edit written materials quickly.

Demonstrated ability to understand and communicate about complex, technical, or sensitive subjects in a clear, concise and engaging manner.

Strong grasp of strategic communications and storytelling strategy, including how to create strong messaging for organizing campaigns.

Comfortable speaking on the record, with demonstrated on-the-record experience.

Ability to work independently and achieve outcomes with minimal supervision.

Demonstrated ability to collaborate and an openness to learning and sharing.

Ability to juggle multiple priorities and prioritize work to meet demands of fast-changing environments.
Job Details
The salary for this position is between $2,000 and $4,000 month, commensurate with experience.
