After earning the trust of voters and serving on the Board of Education for Oswego Community Unit School District 308, Jared is now running for State Representative to expand opportunity for every family in our district. His campaign is rooted in grassroots engagement, neighbor-to-neighbor conversations, and a belief that every voter deserves to be heard.
Position Overview
Canvassers are the frontline ambassadors of Jared’s campaign. They engage voters at the door, build community relationships, deliver persuasive messages, and collect critical data that drives strategic decisions. This is an ideal position for individuals who are passionate about politics, enjoy talking to people, and want to make a direct impact on the 2026 Democratic primary.
Key Responsibilities

Knock doors in assigned turfs to identify, persuade, and turn out voters.

Accurately record voter responses and data in the campaign’s canvassing platform (Minivan/VAN).
-
Distribute literature and answer basic questions about the campaign and upcoming election.
-
Attend required trainings, daily briefings, and debriefs.

Represent the campaign professionally and respectfully at all times.
-
Meet daily and weekly goals for doors knocked, conversations completed, and data accuracy.
-
Share insights from the field to help the campaign refine message and strategy.
-
Assist with phone banking or volunteer recruitment when weather prevents door-to-door canvassing.
Qualifications
-
Strong interpersonal and communication skills; comfortable talking to strangers.
-
Ability to walk for several hours and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
-
Reliable transportation to canvassing locations
-
Access to a smartphone for using canvassing apps.
-
Commitment to Democratic values and electing progressive, community-centered leadership.

Prior canvassing or campaign experience is a plus, but not required as training will be provided.
-
Punctual, dependable, and able to follow instructions.
-
Positive attitude, resilience, and willingness to engage with a diverse electorate.
Work Schedule
-
Flexible part-time schedule, typically 10–20 hours per week.
-
Shifts are primarily weekday evenings and weekends to match voter availability.
-
Additional shifts may be available as the primary approaches.
