JOB DESCRIPTION

Representative Dave Min (CA-47) is seeking a highly motivated, creative Digital Director/Press Secretary to join our Communications Department in Washington, DC. The position will report to the Communications Director and carry out the Congressman’s strategy for digital media as well as support earned and paid communications. The ideal candidate will be entrepreneurial, have a strong interest in digital media, able to work directly with a principal, and thrive in a fast-paced environment. The Digital Director/Press Secretary will occasionally be asked to work extended hours and under tight deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead social media, email, and multimedia strategy.

  • Draft and pitch social media content to the Communications Director and Member.

  • Draft and distribute press releases, statements, and advisories.

  • Coordinate digital campaigns tied to legislative and district initiatives.

  • Manage content calendar and analytics across all platforms.

  • Assist in preparing the Congressman for interviews and media events.

  • Collaborate with the Communications Director on message framing and rapid response.

  • Develop and manage digital content across platforms (Facebook, Instagram, X, Bluesky, and YouTube).

  • Support the office’s social media strategy by drafting social media posts and producing video and graphic materials.

  • Update and manage the official website.

  • Monitor national and local media coverage, as well as social media trends.

  • Clip and caption TV appearances, floor speeches, long and short form videos, and more.

  • Support the Field Representative/Press Assistant in the planning and execution of California-based press events and digital outreach.

Ideal Qualifications

  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with a commitment to public service and constituent engagement.

  • Strong writer and editor who stays abreast of breaking news and social media trends.

  • Expertise with Canva, Adobe Suite, and/or similar platforms.

  • Experience with principal management.

  • At least 2-3 years of prior experience working in communications.
