JOB DESCRIPTION
Abdul for Senate is seeking talented candidates to work as communication fellows for the 2026 election cycle. We are looking for passionate, hardworking individuals who are committed to our mission of electing Abdul El-Sayed our next U.S. Senator.
Role Overview:
Communication fellows will help shape the narrative of our campaign by expressing campaign talking points through traditional and nontraditional media. Fellows will learn how to create compelling copy that engages voters and amplifies Abdul’s message statewide. This will be a part time position based around the state. This position offers compensation in the form of a $250 weekly stipend for an average of 15 hours of work each week.
Responsibilities:
● Assist with journalist research and interview scheduling
● Draft and edit messaging for press releases, newsletters, and talking points
● Monitor press coverage and compile daily media clips
● Support rapid response and content scheduling
● Assist with organizing campuses and communities
● Other campaign needs as required
Qualifications (Required):
● Must have transportation to attend events as needed
● Proficiency with Google Drive and Sheets/Excel
● Superior written and verbal communication skills
● Ability to learn new skills and take on new challenges, with a desire to learn and a willingness to ask questions
● Ability to balance between competing priorities in a fast-paced, demanding environment while maintaining exceptional organization and attention to detail
● Commitment to electing Abdul El-Sayed to the U.S. Senate
● Ability to demonstrate multicultural competence – the awareness, knowledge and skills needed to work with others who are culturally different from self in meaningful, relevant and productive ways
● Personal and professional commitment to promoting and investing in cross-cultural skills and awareness related to individuals from broad backgrounds, races, ethnicities, religions, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity and disability
Qualifications (Preferred):
● Previous experience in communications or other campaign work is a plus
● Connections to Michigan reporters a plus
