Dr. Kumar for Congress is seeking motivated Field Organizers who want to be involved in a Congressional primary race in Oakland County.
This is an opportunity to be a part of a grassroots campaign for social and economic justice that puts working people first.
About Dr. Kumar:
For more than three decades, Dr. Anil Kumar has served the people of Metro Detroit as a respected urologist, educator, and community leader. From his early days as an immigrant pursuing the American dream to his role as a physician and hospital leader, Dr. Kumar’s life story is rooted in service, opportunity, and hard work. The same values that drive his campaign for Congress in Michigan’s 11th District.
Position Summary:
Field Organizer is a pivotal position, responsible for implementing the campaign’s field strategy. Successful applicants will be responsible for direct voter contact as well as volunteer recruitment and retention, as well as general organizing within the various communities that make up the 11th congressional district
This position is full time 40+ Hours with emphasis on the plus and successful applicants will be expected to work evenings and weekends as required with increased frequency around important dates on the campaign calendar.
Position Responsibilities:
● Build meaningful relationships with residents, volunteers, and supporters
● Help Implement and manage outreach for the 11th district.
● Ensure volunteers are equipped with the tools they need
● Ensure the accurate data entry into the campaign database
● Organize voter outreach events within district
● Help manage, train volunteers for voter contact
● Dedicate time every week to do in-person direct voter contact
● Draft daily and weekly field reports to the Organizing Director
● Meet all outreach goals assigned
● Other duties assigned as they arise
Qualifications:
● Possess a deep commitment to grassroots engagement and social justice, and be able to convey those values in their work
● Have a high attention to detail
● Have the ability to multitask, create and achieve goals, meet deadlines, and creatively solve problems
● Possess excellent interpersonal skills
● Have the ability to take feedback and implement changes in real time
● Possess good listening skills
● Be comfortable working both in a remote environment as needed
● Have access to reliable transportation
Preferred Qualifications:
● Have experience working on a grassroots campaign, whether it’s electoral, union or community organizing campaigns
● Have strong ties to the 11th Congressional District/MetroDetroit area and be willing to travel throughout the District
● Bilingual or multilingual speakers are strongly encouraged to apply.
Compensation:
This is a full-time position with a base salary of $5,000/month.
