JOB DESCRIPTION

Branch Politics is a free, nonpartisan website that walks through voters what's on their unique ballot. As Americans grow more disenchanted with politics, we empower hundreds of thousands of voters to cast informed votes where it matters most.

We are looking to hire a team of full-time Election Researchers to write informative profiles of candidates on the ballot in 2026.

What is an Election Researcher? Researchers get paid to apply their knowledge and passion for policy to write concise, accurate, helpful summaries of candidates' beliefs and platforms around key issues. For some of the larger statewide races, this work is viewed by hundreds of thousands of voters. You can see sample candidate profiles here. No prior experience necessary. Training will be provided.

Details:

  • Remote Work: This is a fully remote position, and you may work from any location.

  • Start Date: Our first hiring cohort will begin on January 5, 2026. However, we will continue reviewing applications and hiring on a rolling basis throughout the year.

  • Duration: This is a seasonal role centered around work for the 2026 election cycle. Weekly hours will fluctuate based on election timelines. In most periods, sufficient hours will be available; however, during slower periods between election milestones, hours may be reduced or temporarily unavailable.

  • Compensation: The starting pay is $15/hour, with opportunities for raises as you advance through seniority levels.

  • Hours: This role offers flexible scheduling with a required commitment of 35 hours per week. Mandatory training will take place when you are hired, and team meetings will occur on Monday and Thursday afternoons. Outside of those times, you may set your own schedule.
