Ethan Corson, a lifelong Kansan and current State Senator, is running for Governor of Kansas. Ethan is endorsed by Governor Laura Kelly, and this is one of the most competitive gubernatorial races in the country. You can learn more about Ethan here.

The Press Secretary will work closely with the Communications Director to execute communications strategy and tactics, including drafting written materials for the campaign and serving as main point of contact for state and local reporters. The ideal candidate will have on-the-record experience and excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work with Communications Director to execute communications strategy and tactics

• Manage day-to-day press operations including pitching and responding to media inquiries

• Serve as main point of contact and on-the-record spokesperson for state and local press

• Draft written materials including statements, speeches, op-eds, press releases and advisories, and talking points

• Plan and execute campaign press events across the state

• Assist with other communications duties as needed

Qualifications:

• Two cycles of campaign communications experience or equivalent

• On-the-record experience working with reporters

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask and prioritize projects while working on a deadline

• Willingness to work irregular hours, including nights and weekends, as the campaign schedule demands

• Kansas ties or experience is a plus, but not necessary
