Campaign Summary
The Campaign Manager will serve as a key leader, responsible for overseeing the day-to-day
operations and successful execution of the campaign plan to ensure victory in the upcoming
election for the Maryland State Assembly (House). This is a demanding, high-impact role
requiring strong organizational and leadership skills.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Management
Work directly with the candidate to set goals, develop, and execute a comprehensive,
winning campaign plan that includes strategy for field, communications, fundraising, and
digital operations.
Manage and oversee the day-to-day functions of the campaign, serving as the primary
point of contact for staff, volunteers, consultants, and the candidate.
Work with the campaign’s treasurer to maintain the campaign budget, track all
expenditures, and allocate resources effectively to meet campaign goals.
Ensure the campaign adheres to all federal and Maryland state campaign finance laws
and reporting requirements.
Fundraising & Finance
Draft, implement, and manage an aggressive fundraising plan to meet or exceed finance
goals.
Staff the candidate for all fundraising call time, events, and meetings, ensuring they are
prepared and on schedule.
Coordinate with fundraising consultants for donor prospect research and follow-up
activities.
Field & Volunteer Operations
Design and execute a winning field program, including a detailed field plan to meet
ambitious voter contact goals (Voter ID, persuasion, and Get Out The Vote (GOTV)).
Oversee all grassroots outreach efforts, including canvassing, phone banking, and other
direct voter contact activities.
Recruit, train, motivate, and manage a team of campaign volunteers and interns,
securing commitments for shifts throughout the election cycle.
Manage all campaign data, ensuring data hygiene and effective use of voter contact
databases, such as VAN/Votebuilder.
Communications & Media
In consultation with the candidate, craft and refine the candidate's core message and
talking points.
Serve as the primary campaign contact for local media inquiries and coordinate press
opportunities.
Oversee the campaign's digital presence, including maintaining the candidate's website,
managing social media platforms, and developing an email communications program.
Ensure effective, timely, and winning paid communications (mail, digital, etc.).
Political & Candidate Relations
Manage the candidate's schedule and time efficiently, prioritizing fundraising, voter
contact, and community events.
Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including state and
local party officials, community leaders, labor unions, and allied organizations to secure
political endorsements and support.
Staff the candidate for all relevant events, meetings, and interviews.
Qualifications
At least one to two cycles of paid campaign experience (State legislative, local, or
congressional preferred).
Exceptional organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, and proven ability to
manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages to
diverse audiences.
Demonstrated experience managing staff and/or large groups of volunteers.
Proficiency with campaign data platforms, specifically VAN/Votebuilder.
Ability to work flexible and demanding hours, including evenings and weekends, as
required by the election cycle.
An adaptable, collaborative team player who thrives in a fast-paced, high-pressure
environment.
Familiarity with the Maryland and Montgomery County political landscape
