JOB DESCRIPTION

Organic Media Director, The Wisco Project

The Organization:

The Wisco Project is Wisconsin’s largest youth vote organization. We run large-scale organizing and digital programming to reach and mobilize students across the state. In 2026, we will seek to build on the work of previous cycles to run our strongest program yet and score progressive victories for students across the state. This will be a crucial year for Wisconsin and we are in need of talented, dedicated staff ready to take on this challenge with us!

What Will You Do?

We are looking for an Organic Media Director to develop and lead our organization’s social media strategy across all platforms, both statewide and at the campus level. The Organic Media Director should be someone who is passionate about leveraging organic digital content to reach and mobilize young voters, empowering creators, and building high-performing digital infrastructure across campuses statewide. The role will start in January and run through 11/15/26, with the possibility of extension. This position will be based in Madison, Wisconsin and requires a significant amount of in-person work. Supporter housing may be available.

The Organic Media Director will report to the Creative Director and will:

  • Directly Manage full-time Social Media Managers and oversee the Content Creator Fellowship program

  • Oversee and execute the organization’s statewide social media strategy, developing creative programming and strategies to grow the followings of, and engagement with, Wisco Project accounts

  • Oversee systems to ensure that organic content is on-message, on-brand, accurate, compliant, and effective

  • Lead our expansion into new and emerging platforms, with a particular focus on building a strong YouTube presence.

  • Train both the digital team and organizing staff on how to effectively use social media to advance organizing goals

  • Serve as the team’s in-house expert on organic media and ensure best practices are integrated across departments

  • Track analytics and performance to inform ongoing strategy and optimize content across platforms.

  • All other duties as assigned

Who Are You?

A successful candidate for this role will have/be:

  • Demonstrated success developing and leading organic media strategies, preferably for political campaigns or political/advocacy organizations, and an exceptional understanding of organic social strategy, trends, and platform best practices — including emerging platforms.

  • Substantial experience managing staff or interns strongly preferred

  • A thorough understanding of what makes content successful with current college students

  • Strong training skills, with the ability to teach others how to use social media effectively for organizational and organizing goals.

  • A track record of creative problem solving and effective management of systems/programming

  • Passionate about civic engagement, highly motivated, and able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
