About the Candidate: Huma Ahsan is a respected attorney, former appellate chief judge and passionate advocate for justice, with more than 20 years of experience spanning immigration law, tribal law, judicial service, and public interest advocacy. A fighter for fairness in times of crisis, Huma has consistently stepped forward when justice is under threat. She worked with the Freedom From Religion Foundation drafting an amicus brief opposing the Trump administration’s executive orders banning Muslims from entering the United States. Position Summary:

The Campaign Manager is responsible for planning, directing, and executing all aspects of a competitive Dane County judicial campaign for Huma Ahsan. This role oversees day-to-day operations, ensures all campaign activities align with judicial ethics guidelines, manages volunteers, and drives the strategic plan to win in both the primary in February and general elections in April. The ideal candidate is highly organized, community-minded, politically savvy, and committed to running a values-driven, compliant, and professional campaign.

Key Responsibilities

1. Campaign Strategy & Leadership

  • Develop and manage an overarching campaign plan, timeline, benchmarks, and budget.

  • Oversee field, communications, fundraising, digital, and coalition strategies.

  • Coordinate closely with the candidate to ensure message discipline and ethical compliance under Wisconsin judicial campaign rules.

  • Maintain confidentiality, impartiality, and professionalism in all public interactions.

2. Daily Campaign Operations

  • Manage the campaign internal structures, calendars, and major projects

  • Supervise volunteer teams, ensuring clear roles and deadlines.

  • Serve as the main point of contact between the candidate, consultants, and campaign kitchen committee.

3. Communications

  • Work with communications consultants to refine message, talking points, and media strategy.

  • Review and approve campaign materials, mailers, digital ads, and social media content.

  • Coordinate press interviews, editorial board meetings, and public statements.

  • Monitor news cycles and develop rapid-response messaging when appropriate.

4. Fundraising & Finance Compliance

  • Lead and support fundraising strategy including call time, events, small-dollar programs, and donor stewardship.

  • Ensure all fundraising practices and financial reporting comply with Wisconsin campaign finance laws.

  • Coordinate with treasurer on timely reporting, budget updates, and spending approvals.

  • Ensure campaign activities adhere strictly to Wisconsin judicial ethics guidelines.

  • Provide training to all staff and volunteers on compliance and boundaries.

5. Coalition Engagement & Field Operations

  • Oversee voter outreach efforts including canvassing, phone banks, relational organizing, and text outreach.

  • Build relationships with community organizations, neighborhood associations, student groups, local leaders, and advocacy networks.

  • Ensure strong presence at Dane County events, forums, and public gatherings.

  • Manage endorsement processes, screening interviews, and follow-up communications.

  • Build coalitions with stakeholder groups, affinity communities, labor allies, legal professionals, and civic leaders.

Qualifications preferred

  • Strong understanding of local elections, community dynamics, and/or judicial campaign best practices.

  • Experience working on political campaigns ideally as a campaign manager, field director or deputy manager.

  • Ability to work long, flexible hours, including evenings and weekends

  • Experience with Dane County political landscape or Wisconsin statewide races.

  • Knowledge of judicial campaign ethics or legal-sector experience.

  • Familiarity with political tech tools (VAN, P2P texting platforms, social media analytics, Google Workspace).

  • Coalition-building, or stakeholder engagement experience.
