JOB DESCRIPTION

Kansas United for Impartial Courts (KUIC) is seeking a Campaign Manager to lead efforts to defeat a constitutional amendment that would eliminate merit selection for Kansas Supreme Court justices, replacing this fair and impartial system with partisan elections.

KUIC is a statewide coalition of organizations and concerned citizens working to defeat this amendment, which will appear before Kansas voters in August 2026. KUIC partners include the ACLU of Kansas, Kansas Values Institute, Kansas NEA, Planned Parenthood Great Plains Votes, and members of the Kansas legal community. KUIC seeks to run this campaign in a way that not only leads to victory, but that builds long-term grassroots power and infrastructure in Kansas.

Duties and Responsibilities

Staff & Consultants

  • Hire and manage key staff, with support from General Consultant

  • Manage paid consultant team, in-state consultants and paid media firms, with support from General Consultant

Manage Executive Committee, Campaign Subcommittees, and Coalition

  • Manage the Executive Committee, including preparing detailed agendas for weekly meetings, managing follow up items from those meetings, and preparing EC members to arrive at weekly meetings ready to make decisions and move work forward.

  • Supervise senior staff to manage Subcommittees.

  • Serve as liaison between the Executive Committee and the broader coalition. Work with EC and GC to determine how to grow and engage the coalition strategically.

  • Create and implement the review and feedback processes and timelines for research instruments, fundraising materials, earn media communications, social media communications, and paid ads.

Campaign Plan & Campaign Timeline

  • In consultation with the Executive Committee, consultant team and staff, develop and implement campaign plan, with regular evaluation about progress towards goals. Specifically, develop voter contact, communications, and GOTV strategies in collaboration with the consultants and EC.

  • Maintain regularly updated and detailed campaign timeline.

Manage Budget

  • Build and iterate on budget, in consultation with the Executive Committee and General Consultant.

  • Manage cash flow.

  • Work with in-state and national partners to support fundraising work and ensure the fundraising plan is on track.

Position Requirements

  • Minimum of 4 years or two campaign cycles of experience directly related to the specified duties and responsibilities, focusing primarily on coalition management, leadership, or expertise managing large and complex projects.

  • Commitment to support diversity, equity and inclusion in all aspects of the campaign, including in coalition building and voter-facing communications

  • Comfortable with Google software.

  • Collaborative spirit, a willingness and ability to work with a team to reach goals together.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred but not required

  • Experience in a managerial role on one or more statewide campaigns

  • Experience managing campaign or organizational budgets

  • Experience in Kansas politics

  • Familiarity with fair courts work

The salary for this position is $12,000 per month, plus cell phone and health care stipends. This position is full-time and will be based in Kansas.
