JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Summary

The Nevada Conservation League is seeking a creative and collaborative Development Manager to work closely with the Executive Director to develop, implement, and manage a fundraising strategy for small, mid-level, and major donors, supporting the mission and growth of the Nevada Conservation League (501c4) and the Nevada Conservation League Education Fund (501c3). The position has a strong opportunity for upward mobility.

The manager plays a crucial role in generating revenue from individual and corporate donors who give annually through membership and event sponsorship. A successful candidate will be proactive, reliable, detail-oriented, and professional. They will have experience in cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding donors through various channels, including email, direct mail, phone, in-person visits, virtual meetings, and events. The ideal candidate will possess excellent interpersonal skills with the desire to interact directly with donors and the ability to build meaningful relationships. This position operates in a collaborative environment, reporting to the Executive Director. The manager will be primarily responsible for managing and growing the donor base, as well as leading mid-level giving programs.

Nevada Conservation League (NCL) is the political voice of Nevada’s conservation community. We advocate for sound conservation policies, organize and train conservation leaders and advocates, work to increase civic engagement, educate and endorse candidates for public office, and hold elected officials and decision-makers accountable for the conservation and environmental issues we work on: climate, clean air, clean water, protecting our public lands and open spaces, and public health and livability. We strive to work in a way that recognizes and builds a deeper understanding of racial justice, which achieves more just outcomes and builds a more inclusive organization.

The NCL family of organizations includes Nevada Conservation League, a 501(c)(4) organization, Nevada Conservation League Education Fund, a 501(c)(3) organization, and Nevada Conservation League Political Action Committee, our political arm that directly helps elect pro-conservation candidates win office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Along with the executive director, design and manage a fundraising strategy to maintain our current fundraising program and expand donor engagement each year.

  • Assist with re-soliciting all current donors to make annual donations.

  • Responsible for prospect research of major donors.

  • Work with ED to manage and expand corporate donors and sponsorships

  • Execute email and mobile text message campaign strategy to raise money from our grassroots low-dollar donors.

  • Design, draft, and coordinate an annual direct mail campaign to our donor list.

  • Schedule and maintain a fundraising calendar each year.

  • Plan fundraising events in Southern and Northern Nevada, including the annual Home Means Nevada Dinner in Southern Nevada and our Annual Reno Fundraiser.

  • Process contributions, including entry in the donor database, and donor acknowledgements in a timely manner

  • Participate in staff meetings, staff retreats, weekly check-ins with the executive director, and skill-building learning opportunities.

  • Engage with colleagues in the national League of Conservation Voters (LCV) network

  • Attend monthly Development Cohort meetings with national LCV and other state league affiliates, and engage in ongoing database training and collaboration.

  • Additional tasks as assigned.

Qualifications/Preferred skills:

• 2+ years of development or related non-profit or political experience with a proven track record of assisting in securing mid-level and major gifts and cultivating relationships with individual donors and corporate sponsors

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling

donor communications and proposals

• Commitment to the organization’s values and commitment to centering diversity, equity, and inclusion in development work and supporting an inclusive organizational culture

• Interest in clean energy, climate, conservation, and related issues

• Self-motivated, self-starter that is efficient and extremely detail-oriented

• Superb time-management skills

• Strong project management abilities

• Ethical and professional conduct, particularly in handling confidential donor information

• Proficiency with Google applications and Microsoft Office products, and using a fundraising database - specific experience with EveryAction and ActBlue is a plus

•Support the Executive Director in all aspects of donor relations

Working Conditions:

This position is based in Nevada , and the employee will work remotely, with some travel and event presence required. Work is typically performed while sitting at a computer screen for extended periods. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts when working with office machines. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and sit. This position requires working indoors in environmentally controlled conditions with exposure to sounds and noise levels that may be distracting or uncomfortable. Job tasks are performed in close physical proximity to other people. Reliable transportation is required. Some evening and weekend hours are required; the workload will be more than 40 hours per week during some periods.

Job Status: Full-Time, exempt

Salary:$55-65,000
