A competitive democratic candidate for New York State Assembly from Brooklyn, NY is recruiting a ** part time or full time Communications Assistant** to join the fight for a New York that is centered on building a stronger, safer, and healthier New York for all, and especially for families, children, working class residents, immigrants, and marginalized communities.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
● Working alongside staff to develop and implement a comprehensive political and voter contact strategy. Implementing that strategy by tracking voter contact progress.
● Directing, filming, and editing video and photo content for social media and ads.
● Posting to social media and managing campaign social media accounts.
● Drafting press releases and statements.
● Helping to update the campaign website.
● Coordinating with consultants, vendors, cabinet, and community leaders as needed.
Qualifications:
● Has access to a car or the ability to commute to various in person events and locations.
● At least 1-2 years of electoral or advocacy communications experience, or commensurate work experience
● Excellent organizational skills and the ability to make sure that short term and long term priorities get completed.
● A proactive approach in identifying organizational gaps and executing a plan to fill them
● Ability to work a standard campaign schedule, which includes evenings and weekends
● Ability to manage people and work laterally alongside an experienced consultant team
● Fluency in Spanish, Arabic, Russian, and/or a Chinese dialect is a plus
Desired start date is immediate, but can be flexible for the right candidate. Position will require a mix of remote and in-person work in New York City.
