Phoenix, Arizona

Arizona’s 1st Congressional District is ** the most competitive open-seat race in the nation**—and control of the U.S. House runs straight through it. McCartney for Congress is building a first-rate, disciplined, and aggressive campaign to win AZ-01 and help deliver a Democratic majority.

Rick McCartney is a successful businessman, civic leader, and problem-solver running a people-powered campaign focused on accountability, opportunity, and results. We are seeking an ** experienced, strategic, and battle-tested Campaign Manager** to lead day-to-day operations and drive this campaign to victory.

This is a senior leadership role for someone ready to run a top-tier congressional campaign from the ground up—and across the finish line.

The Role

The Campaign Manager is the ** chief operating officer of the campaign**, responsible for translating strategy into execution, managing staff and consultants, and ensuring every department is aligned, accountable, and winning.

This is a ** full-time, exempt position** with a competitive salary and benefits package. The role requires non-traditional hours, including nights and weekends.

Core Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of the overall campaign plan, timelines, and benchmarks

  • Oversee the campaign budget and fundraising program to ensure aggressive and sustainable growth

  • Directly manage senior staff; recruit, hire, train, and evaluate campaign personnel

  • Ensure ballot access and oversee all filing deadlines and requirements

  • Track, analyze, and report campaign goals, metrics, and progress to the candidate and stakeholders

  • Manage and optimize the candidate’s schedule to maximize political and fundraising impact

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for consultants and oversee all workstreams (polling, mail, digital, field, communications, etc.)

  • Work closely with compliance consultants and legal counsel to ensure full compliance with all federal, state, and local election laws

  • Foster a professional, inclusive, ethical, and high-performing campaign culture

Experience & Qualifications

  • 3+ years of campaign experience, with increasing responsibility

  • Demonstrated experience working directly with elected officials or candidates, including principal coaching

  • Proven staff management and leadership experience

  • Strong strategic judgment, organizational skills, and attention to detail

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment with long and non-traditional hours

  • Proficiency in Google Workspace

  • Strong working knowledge of ** NGP, Numero, ActBlue, and VoteBuilder**

  • Arizona political experience strongly preferred

  • Strong network in Arizona political ecosystem with PR firms, lobbyists, and officials

Why This Race Matters

AZ-01 is winnable—and winning it changes the balance of power in Washington. This is a rare opportunity to manage a ** nationally significant congressional race** with a strong candidate, clear message, and real path to victory.
