Director, Cultural Mobilization Overview:
The Director, Cultural Mobilization will be focused on implementing the departmental plan for Cultural programs for Maremoto, with support and oversight from the Vice President, Culture. This role will oversee programs and will have a people management component, with close collaboration with a junior staff person. The Director, Cultural Mobilization will report to the Vice President, Culture, and is a senior member of the Culture team. The ideal applicant for the Director, Cultural Mobilization role is a strategic doer, with extensive experience with project and program management, budget management, and program implementation.
Director, Cultural Mobilization Responsibilities:
Project and event management and success (50%)

Oversee and track the day to day execution of each program, managing deadlines, project calendars, and work towards outcomes that advance departmental goals

Execute the strategy of the major programs within the Culture department

Create materials for Culture programs, such as assets, workstations, and more

Own performance tracking and reporting, ensuring goals are met on time and within budget, and providing regular updates to leadership on outcomes, budgets, and key metrics
Stakeholder and partnership management (20%)
-
Navigate relationships with internal stakeholders and leadership effectively in order to move the Culture programs forward
-
Lead meetings with leadership, internal, and external stakeholders
-
Work closely with allies, consultants, and other stakeholders to move the work of the Culture department and Maremoto forward
-
Move approvals through appropriate channels

Reporting on high-level progress, blockers, provide solutions, and recommendations
Contracts and admin (15%)

Own and oversee the strategic execution of contracts and partnerships related to the programs of the Culture department

Collaborate with the Vice President,Culture to ensure that contracts are executed strategically, timely, and efficiently within the scope of the Director’s programs
Budget management (15%)

Ensuring that each program remains within budget and alerting the Vice President, Culture if major budget changes occur or are expected

Allocating and reallocating resources within the program budget to ensure outcomes
-
Collaborating with internal stakeholders (leadership, financial operations, etc.) to ensure budgets are accurate and realistic
Director, Cultural Mobilization Qualifications:
Skills

Proficient at solving complex problems and executing programs and campaigns

Budget management
Experiences
-
6-8 years of programmatic experience, such as overseeing external facing programs, digital organizing programs, or programs with high-touch cultural impacts

At least 2+ years of management or team leadership experience

Experience working with independence and complex programs and work environments
-
Previous work in a start-up or campaign environment preferred
-
Considerable experience working with leadership and/or principals
-
Experience with VIPS/talent or creators is also a plus, but not required
-
Experience in campaigns, cultural and social change campaigns, creator and brand partnerships
-
Working with and balancing many stakeholders at once
-
Managing events with highly visible actions and outcomes
Knowledge
-
Bilingual or native Spanish speaker is a huge plus, but not necessary
-
Understanding of both cultural and political environments, and working on diverse teams
-
Strong understanding of project management systems and frameworks
-
Familiarity with digital best practices, and how the digital and social media landscape is part of an effective program plan

Clear understanding of how content moves and lives on social media, and how that is related to program implementation
The ideal Director, Cultural Mobilization candidate is:

A driven, self-starter ready to roll up their sleeves and has experience executing complex programs and ensuring desired programmatic outcomes.

A highly competent project manager who wakes up every day eager to solve programs, think at scale, and move work forward that makes a meaningful difference for the Latino community.

An adaptable, curious learner and doer ready to receive and implement feedback quickly and always looking for ways to improve program and outcomes

Bilingual, and understands Latino culture in a meaningful and insightful way that helps to drive program work on a daily basis.
Nights and weekend work will be required, especially when the program or project schedule requires. Travel will also be required, with an annual estimate of about 8 weeks of travel per year, including potential international travel. The travel for the Director, Cultural Mobilization role will be required based on the project and program outcomes, along with an annual All-Staff retreat.
Director, Cultural Mobilization Compensation

Salary: $118,000 annually, less payroll taxes and other withholdings
