Position type: Contract
Location: Ideally NYC or close
Rate: $4000 - 6000 flat rate, negotiable based on experience.

About the Organization:
TREEage is the largest youth-led climate justice organization in New York State that trains and mobilizes young people to win bold policy change through organizing, grassroots advocacy, and direct action. Their Albany Youth Day of Action is their annual lobby day at the State Capitol, mobilizing 800+ students from across the state to advocate for concrete climate justice wins in the budget and key legislation—this year, students will be advocating for climate legislation, the Tax The Rich campaign, and New York for All (immigration).
The lobby day takes place in mid-March 2026 and combines scheduled meetings with legislators, a rally, and community moments like art-making, performances, and a breakfast reception with representatives, alongside provided transportation and food for participants.

Led by principal Kevin Rabinovich, Dangerously Persistent is executive-producing this day-long event, supervising production and logistics. You will report directly to Kevin and the client.
What Will You Do?
Help the event earn as much media & press coverage as possible from traditional press (TV/newspapers) and new media (user-generated content/influencers/creators).
A combination of:

Create media/press plan
-
Craft the overall narrative for press
-
Pitch story to national and local outlets (must have relationships with outlets)

Build content strategy aligned to client goals (earned media/press placements)

Create shot list, schedule, interview plan, and staffing plan for press capture
-
Direct onsite capture priorities and coordinate with producer on timing
-
Liaise with press at rally (make students/speakers available for interviews)

Create strategy for inviting/engaging new media (NYC / NY state political influencers)
Who Are You?
Ideally, you are:
-
A PR-minded, experienced media/comms organizer (7–10 years)
-
Active in one or more NYC leftist organizing spaces
-
Available to support on-site in Albany on March 17 (travel provided to/from New York City)
Ideally, you understand:

The NYC & NY State political environment, e.g. internal politics between various movements/orgs/elected officials
-
How to manage optics, narratives, relationships
-
How to frame shots that outlets would want to publish alongside a story
Ideally, you already have:
-
Run press/comms for a short-term lobby day/rally and understand the on-the-ground support needed with tight timings and last-minute changes

Run press/comms for a long-term campaign

Relationships with traditional media/press/print/TV/etc. outlets

Access to networks of New York-based political influencers/celebrities
