JOB DESCRIPTION

About the Candidate:

Rep. Marcy Kaptur represents Ohio’s 9th Congressional District. The daughter of a Polish-American working class family in Toledo, Marcy’s life and service mirror her district, where she has spent her career delivering for the people of Northwest Ohio.

Since 2020, Marcy has consistently been one of very few Democrats winning and holding Trump seats. In 2024, she was one of just 13 Democrats to win a seat Trump also won. In October 2025, The Ohio Redistricting Commission adopted a new congressional map, making OH-09 more favorable to Republicans. However, Marcy’s history of overperformance in this R+5 PVI district gives her every chance of beating the odds once again.

Role Overview:

Marcy Kaptur for Congress is hiring an Organizing Director for the 2026 election cycle in a highly-watched, targeted Congressional district. The Organizing Director will work closely with the Campaign Manager to create and execute a comprehensive organizing program for Congresswoman Kaptur’s re-election, including hiring and managing field organizers, interns, and working with outside stakeholders and the Ohio Coordinated Campaign. This is a full-time, salaried, cycle based exempt position located in Toledo, Ohio, termed through November 30, 2026.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Work closely with the Campaign Manager on shaping organizing strategy and setting strategic goals.

  • Hire and manage full- and part-time organizing staff throughout the Congressional District.

  • Develop systems and best practices for supporting and training staff and volunteers.

  • Establish metrics and goals for the organizing team; track progress to goal, monitor success of the organizing program, and ongoing team coaching.

  • Creating and executing direct voter contact programs, and reporting on those programs to internal and external stakeholders.

  • Communicate clear priorities, needs, and expectations up and down the chain

  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • At least 2 cycles of relevant community or political organizing experience, at least 1 cycle managing paid staff.

  • Proficiency in VAN, Microsoft Office Suite, and Google Docs.

  • Ability to demonstrate multicultural competence.

  • Excellent organizational, management, and interpersonal skills.

  • Must have a personal vehicle and current drivers license.

Compensation:

  • The salary range for this position is $5500-6500/month, commensurate with experience.

  • Health insurance is provided.
