JOB DESCRIPTION
Villegas for Congress is hiring an Organizing Director for their 2026 organizing program for California’s 22nd Congressional District. The Organizing Director will be responsible for working closely with the Campaign Manager and additional partners to design, manage, implement, and execute the field program objectives for the Villegas for Congress Campaign. The ideal applicant has relevant campaign experience, works well in fast-paced environments, and has a proven ability to meet goals. This is a full-time, salaried, cycle based exempt position located in Bakersfield, California.
Responsibilities will include:
● Assisting in the hiring, training, and placement of field campaign staff throughout the 22nd congressional district.
● Build and strengthen local community relationships with key organizations and activists on behalf of the campaign.
● Work with the Campaign Manager to identify and address potential gaps in the political and grassroots aspects of the campaign.
● Supervising campaign staff throughout the election cycle while implementing clear benchmark and accountability measures.
● Designing and implementing field and voter contact programs, including a paid relational
program.
● Working to build local grassroots volunteer teams that will engage in direct voter contact, volunteer recruitment, and retention in this district.
● Recruit volunteers for non-field events, including but not limited to: advertising shoots, parades, events, and meet and greets.
● Working with the Campaign Manager and partners to analyze data and track progress on field metrics.
● Facilitating and managing paid canvassing operations where necessary.
● Engaging in both internal campaign communications and external partner relationship building – communicating the field metrics and programs.
● Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Desired Skills & Qualifications:
● 2+ cycles of campaign organizing experience, including 1 cycle of staff management experience, is strongly preferred.
● Proficiency in Spanish and English is strongly preferred.
● Proficiency in PDI, Google Docs, MobilizeAmerica, and Scale to Win.
● Experience developing, training and empowering volunteers.
● Strong ability to build relationships and foster a positive team culture.
● Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
● Ability to meet tight deadlines under pressure and problem solve effectively and creatively.
● Access to a vehicle or other, reliable means of transportation.
● Draws from team members’ strengths, empowering them to maximize their talents; contributes where needed to achieve and exceed goals; mentors and guides colleagues with regular feedback and recognition; clearly lays out vision and expectations to the team.

Logistics & Working Conditions:
● Full-time temporary position based in Bakersfield, California.
● Ideal start date is March 1, 2026 through November 30, 2026
● Hours shall require evenings, weekends, and holidays.
● Must have a valid driver’s license, a reliable mode of transportation, and the ability to travel at times throughout the state for more than a day at a time.
