About The Role:

Overseeing media relations strategy for accounts, including heavy pitching and reporter relationship management

Developing communications strategy and executing media tactics for clients
-
Supervising communications associates
-
“Managing up” to partners – helping ensure agency leaders’ time is used efficiently and that agency leaders are engaged effectively and efficiently in client strategy
-
Ensuring effective internal communication and processes
-
Copywriting and editing written materials, including press releases, blog posts, newsletter copy, and other external facing products
-
Day-to-day client management including client deliverables
About You:
-
You are an excellent copywriter and editor – non-negotiable.
-
You are a clear and precise communicator – internally and externally.
-
You have significant experience pitching reporters and going on-the-record. You have a track record of placing big stories in major and influential outlets. You understand the grit and creativity necessary to land a tough story in today’s media landscape.

You know how to use AI tools effectively as a time-saver but you are not overly dependent on them.

You are passionate about the issues we work on, you have a solid grasp of the U.S. political landscape, and you are a consumer of political journalism.

You are able to work quickly and precisely: fast turnarounds, sharp copy, and no typos.

You are detail-oriented, deadline-oriented, and confidently handle both fast-paced and long-term projects simultaneously.

You are interested and enthusiastic about nurturing and coaching junior team members.

You are a self-starter, you are comfortable working independently as well as within a team, and you know when to ask for support.
We’re looking for folks who meet these requirements:

7-10 years experience in communications roles at progressive advocacy organizations, electoral campaigns, and/or consulting firms serving those clients

Strong media relations background, with existing relationships and experience placing both top-tier national and local stories

Excellent, detail-oriented copywriting and editing skills
-
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
The following are not required, but will help a candidate stand out:
-
Experience at a PR agency in a client-facing role
-
Previous experience as a supervisor of junior staff
-
Cross-functional experience in digital/social, paid media, and/or fundraising
This position can be remote anywhere in the United States, but will require working East Coast hours. The salary range for this position is $90,000 to $115,000, depending on your experience and skillset. Benefits include health insurance premium reimbursement (QSEHRA) and a 401K plan with an employer contribution.
