✊ About the Campaign

Shamsul Haque is running for New York State Assembly in District 30 (Elmhurst, Jackson Heights, Woodside, Maspeth). An immigrant, former NYPD Lieutenant Commander, and longtime community member, Shamsul is running to fight for affordability, safe neighborhoods, immigrant justice, and economic dignity for working families.

This campaign is building a people-powered movement rooted in Queens — and we are looking for a Communications Director to help shape and amplify that story.

Position Overview

Field Organizers will be responsible for building volunteer teams, engaging voters directly, and executing the campaign’s field program. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in the community, enjoys talking to people, and is passionate about grassroots organizing.

You will play a key role in winning this race through direct voter contact and community relationships.

Key Responsibilities

🚪 Voter Contact & Canvassing

• Conduct door-to-door canvassing, phone banking, and text outreach

• Persuade and mobilize voters across the district

• Meet daily and weekly voter contact goals

🤝 Volunteer Recruitment & Management

• Recruit, train, and manage volunteers

• Build neighborhood-based volunteer teams

• Lead canvass launches and phone-bank sessions

📍 Community Engagement

• Represent the campaign at local events, mosques, small businesses, and community spaces

• Build relationships with residents and local stakeholders

📊 Data & Reporting

• Track voter interactions using VAN or campaign tools

• Report daily metrics and field insights to the Field Director

⚡ Campaign Execution

• Support petitioning, GOTV (Get Out The Vote), and visibility actions

• Assist with literature drops, tabling, and rapid response field needs

Qualifications-

• Strong communication and people skills

• Comfortable speaking with voters from diverse backgrounds

• Organized, reliable, and self-motivated

• Ability to work evenings and weekends

• Commitment to working-class, immigrant, and progressive values

Preferred

• Experience in canvassing, organizing, or campaigns

• Multilingual skills (Bangla, Spanish, Urdu, Nepali, Hindi, or other languages spoken in Queens)

• Familiarity with Queens neighborhoods and communities

Compensation

• Competitive hourly or salaried rate (based on experience)
