Communications Director
Cooke for Congress is seeking a Communications Director for the 2026 election cycle. The Communications Director will be responsible for developing and executing a clear communications and press strategy for Rebecca Cooke’s campaign for US House.
The position is full-time and based in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.
Primary Responsibilities

Developing earned media plan/calendar and implementing campaign communications strategy

Responding to incoming media requests and managing proactive pitching

Building and maintaining relationships with reporters across Wisconsin

Drafting and editing written communication materials, including social media content

Crafting remarks and guidance for political events

Providing media training and interview prep for candidate

Hiring and overseeing team of communications staff

Providing copy editing, approval and other support as needed for other campaign departments
Job Requirements
-
A track record of working directly with local and national reporters

On-the-record experience as a spokesperson

Multiple cycles of experience working in electoral politics/on campaigns

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

An ability to juggle multiple tasks effectively and get results in a fast-paced environment

Strong commitment to collaboration and teamwork

Experience managing staff and/or volunteers.
Compensation
- Salary range: $6,000-$8,000 per month, dependent on experience
Salary commensurate with experience, with room to grow based on performance.
