Location: Hybrid - Must be located within the state of Florida

Campaign Communications Specialist

Job Overview

A progressive candidate for U.S. Senate is seeking a Communications Specialist who is tasked with overseeing and guiding the communications strategies for the campaign. This role involves developing and executing plans that effectively convey the candidate's message, brand, and values to various stakeholders. As a Communications Specialist, you will be responsible for managing communications coalition partners, ensuring consistency and effectiveness across all channels. You will also play a critical role in media relations, drafting press releases, and driving strategic earned media outreach.

Communications Specialist Responsibilities & Duties

  • Develop and implement comprehensive communications strategies.

  • Manage communications coalitions to ensure message consistency and project delivery.

  • Oversee media relations and maintain relationships with key journalists and media outlets.

  • Create and distribute press releases, speeches, articles, and other PR materials.

  • Lead crisis communications efforts and manage any potential public relations issues.

  • Monitor and analyze media coverage and public sentiment.

  • Collaborate with the Campaign Manager, Communications Team and other departments to align communications efforts.

  • Provide communications support for events, campaigns, and announcements.

  • Supervise and mentor communications team members.

  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.

Campaign Communications Specialist Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field preferred.

  • 3+ years of experience in communications or public relations.

  • Proven track record of successful media relations and crisis management.

  • Strong understanding of digital and social media strategies.

  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.

  • Experience in developing and executing brand strategies.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Requirements:

  • Possession of a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

  • Work in a hybrid environment and maintain primary residence in Florida.

Compensation:

  • Starting salary is $6,000 per month.
