JOB DESCRIPTION

About the Campaign

Furhan Ahmad is running for New York State Assembly District 66 in a competitive six-candidate Democratic primary. AD66 covers Greenwich Village, West Village, East Village, SoHo, TriBeCa, Battery Park City, and surrounding neighborhoods. Furhan has 23 years of frontline public service as an EMT, NYPD officer, and FDNY firefighter. This is an open seat race with a real path to win.

The Role

The Field Director owns the voter contact operation from Day 1 through primary day. You will hire and manage paid canvassers, run NGP VAN, and be responsible for hitting turf targets across all AD66 neighborhoods.

Responsibilities

1. Canvasser Management

Hire, train, and manage 4-6 paid canvassers starting April 13

Run daily briefings and end-of-shift debriefs

Hold canvassers accountable to turf completion and VAN data quality

2. NGP VAN

Build and maintain all voter universes, turf packets, and contact lists

Train canvassers and volunteers on VAN mobile app

Pull weekly data reports and present to campaign director

Maintain data quality across all contact methods

Manage real-time voter suppression on primary day

3. Volunteer Coordination

Run or supervise weekly phone bank and text bank sessions

Manage volunteer shift schedule and onboarding

4. Turf and Field Operations

Execute canvass strategy across all AD66 neighborhoods on weekly rotation

Adjust turf assignments weekly based on VAN contact data

Coordinate canvass timing with mail drops and paid channels

Manage separate senior outreach track with daytime scheduling

Manage poll site coverage and all-day volunteer deployment on June 23

Required Qualifications

Strong, hands-on NGP VAN experience -- non-negotiable. Must be able to build universes, pull turf, run reports, and train others from Day 1

Prior experience as a field organizer, field director, or canvass director

Experience hiring and managing paid canvassers

Familiarity with NYC voter file and primary election mechanics

Available full-time including evenings and weekends through June 23

Preferred Qualifications

Prior Manhattan or dense urban district campaign experience

Experience running phone bank and text bank programs

Familiarity with peer-to-peer texting tools (Hustle, ThruText, or similar)

Experience with senior voter outreach
