Overview
Free DC is the renewed campaign to protect DC Home Rule and win lasting dignity for the people of the District of Columbia. Between now and 2028, we are setting out to bring thousands of people around the DC region into our work and build a trained, trusted, and connected network ready for action. As part of this Free DC seeks an experienced ** Campaign Organizer**. The following is an overview of this position.
About this position
The Campaign Organizer will work with our Ward Teams to achieve the campaign’s overall goals for basebuilding, training, and leadership development. The ideal candidate will be an organizer with 3-5 years of experience who enjoys working toward a win number as well as building durable organizing relationships. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of VAN; ThruText or similar texting platforms; Action Builder or similar CRM software; and phone banking platforms. This person should also have strong volunteer engagement skills, and be excited to collaborate with the 40+ Ward Team leaders who lead our basebuilding efforts. Experience in a campaign setting with organizing metrics and rapid response is a plus.
Key Responsibilities
Data Stewardship

Help achieve campaign-wide goals for basebuilding and training, in partnership with Ward Team leaders.

Track progress toward these goals month over month.

Ensure all member data is as robust as possible, up-to-date, and error-free. This may include but is not limited to: managing tags and taxonomies, establishing naming conventions and other system-wide norms, cleaning up errant data whenever appropriate, providing clear documentation for users adding data, and ensuring the overall integrity of our contact list.
Advanced Outreach

Work with Ward Team leaders to use advanced strategies for outreach like text banking, phone banking, and potentially door-to-door canvassing.

Segment member data, upload contact lists and scripts, and run these outreach sessions, in partnership with Ward Team leaders.
Supporting Engagement

Work with Ward Team leaders to bring community members up a ladder of engagement that includes initial contact, connection through a 1:1, participating in trainings, taking action, and eventual leadership.

Support Ward Team leaders with questions or requests related to our data systems, as needed.
Team Meetings + Coordination

Attend Core Team meeting, weekly on Fridays on Zoom.

Attend the monthly Cross-Team, on the second Wednesday of the month in the evening, in person.

Attend select Signal chats to understand evolving political context, organizing objectives, needs, and opportunities.
