The Chris Jones for Iowa Secretary of Agriculture & Land Stewardship campaign is hiring an Organizer!

Chris Jones is running for Iowa Secretary of Agriculture because Iowa’s waters are at a crisis level. We need bold policy action that can clean up our water quickly, and transform our agriculture system to one that benefits farmers and all Iowans, not just the big multinational corporations. www.chrisjonesforiowa.com

This is a full time position through the general election in November. The position may be based in Iowa City or Des Moines and will require substantial travel. Supporter housing available. This salary for this position will be $3,500 per month.

Responsibilities include:

• Being a key part of the campaign to elect Chris Jones by recruiting and mobilizing volunteers across the state.

• Training and supporting volunteers to talk with voters over the phone and at the doors across the state.

• Organizing house parties, phonebanks and canvassing events with local volunteer leaders.

• Engaging with progressive farmers and agricultural workers across the state.

• Building strong relationships with volunteers and developing local leaders throughout Iowa.

• Staffing the candidate at events across Iowa.

Core Qualifications:

• A passion for the environment, agriculture, and cleaning up Iowa’s polluted waters.

• Strong communication skills and willingness to have dozens of conversations every day with volunteers and voters about the campaign.

• Strong listening skills and the ability to empower and train volunteers to lead actions and events.

• A valid drivers license and reliable vehicle, plus a laptop, cell phone and internet access.

• Able to work independently from various locations across the state.

• Ability to work irregular and long hours including weekends.

Very well qualified applications will also have:

• Previous campaign organizing experience on an electoral campaign.

• Proficiency with voter contact tools, data platforms, and technology, including Votebuilder (VAN).

• Experience or connections with farming or agriculture in Iowa.
