JOB DESCRIPTION

Ed Hermes is a community activist, progressive leader, and the leading candidate for Phoenix City Council in district 4. Ed’s campaign is looking for an organized and detail-oriented individual with a passion for progressive politics to join his team as Campaign Manager. This position is through Election Day in November and could extend to a potential run-off in mid-March 2027.

The ideal candidate has previous experience in leadership roles on political campaigns, managing staff and contractors, and is highly organized and communicative.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise staff, interns, and contractors, assigning tasks and ensuring accountability

  • Oversee and implement the campaign’s strategic plan

  • Prepare and send out regular correspondence to donors, volunteers, and constituents

  • Manage the campaign’s budget, expenses, and bill payments

  • Oversee and collaborate with consultants

  • Monitor all campaign activities to ensure benchmarks are met and make adjustments as necessary

  • Support the Finance Director on various fundraising tasks, ensuring financial systems and reporting are organized

  • Support the Field Director and provide oversight of field program

  • Oversee campaign communications, in collaboration with campaign consultants and contractors

  • Oversee internship and volunteer program

  • Maintain the campaign calendar and coordinate logistics for most campaign events

  • Work closely with the candidate on a day to day basis

  • Hire staff and consultants as needed

  • Manage relationships with unions and other potential allied organizations

  • Run regular campaign team calls, ensuring attendees are providing regular reports and notes are kept

What We’re Looking For:

  • Previous political campaign or adjacent experience preferred

  • Self-starter who is willing to work irregular hours in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.

  • A person who is highly organized, detail oriented, competitive, and results-driven.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Previous experience managing staff, vendors, and contractors is a plus

  • Based in the Phoenix area or willing to relocate
